I think our team lacks two things...Toughness at the PF position and Stability at the PG position...our PFs gets bullied...if only we could get proven vets in order to guide our young team..like Billups who can help Bev and Lin in the back court...agree guys?

Seriously though I believe it or not rockets are a championship team this year if they can do 2 things with our weakess spots.

    bev/lin
    harden/lin
    parsons/ham
    jones/dmo
    howard/asik

LIN - we need to get a solid 20-30mins out of him a night. He has to go back to how he was playing early in the year. Him stopping in the lane not wanting to finish is a big concern & carelesss turnovers. Both these things can be fixed

JONES -at this point he needs to be replaced in the starting lineup. His cons cant be FIXED right now, if he cant get a jumper over the summer he will be better. He cant spread the floor for howard & cant rebound or play defense against grizz, clippers, okc, blazers aka zbo, LMA, ibaka, griffen we cant go in to the playoffs like this. JHE will be the reason we get beat in a series. TWIN towers can play spot mins. And DMO is not the answer at starting PF he is a solid backup playing next to asik, lin, & ham he doesne need to be out there but 15-20mins.

Morey knows this and hopefully he can get a solid PF that can rebound play D or at least get one that can strech the floor and rebound OK or play D OK .

Not sure Morey does know this...if so he doesn't seem to care that much or is content to squander the opportunity to win big this year.

The PGs do their job well enough. The PF spot on the other hand provides close to nothing. It's sad when going from Carlos Delfino to this current crop of 4s is a huge downgrade.

disagree on both counts. PG is a solid position, we have Bev, Lin, Harden all who can man the PG position on O or D.

PF is also pretty solid, TJ is a finisher, DMo defense is ok, Asik can handle specific defensive assignments, Casspi, Greg Smith. We have lots of options.

The problem is that rotations are still not great because of injuries. e.g. TJ and Lin really need to be playing together, they make each other more effective.

Parsons and Harden are playing way too many minutes.

Bev and Lin need to be playing together.

    etc....

I think he was riding wth jones but the past games have woke morey up. I expect him to bring in a PF before playoffs. There are a few on the market all we need is 20mins out of him to strech the floor. dmo can play 15 asik can play 10. and if jones plays ok he can get some mins also.

charlie V and jamison are still out there, and morey can get guys overseas like he did last year with BEV. ASIK & HOWARD at center give us a BIG advantage in the playoffs we can still make it out the west

thats were a PF comes in that can strech the floor. DID you watch all mchales plays last year with PPAT ? lin was solid getting screens playing pick and pop, dragic had the same success the year before, trust me mchale is begging for a guy like ppat that he can run more sets with right now.

Lin will also be a way bettre player when he has screens and a PF he knows where they are that he can always kick to instead of stopping in the lane. right now when he stops guys are on the 3 point line covered because he usually taking his man one on one off the dribble and he is not the finsher that gets fouls like harden can

I'd gladly take a veteran point guard that can keep the offense on task during lulls... yell at Harden to pass. Run things to prevent a big lead from dwindling. Make post entry passes. Not nut-up in the playoffs or big moments (Lin vs OKC or anytime he sees on-the-ball pressure from a star player).

I'd also take a consistent PF that can protect the defensive glass and simply not make careless mistakes. If JVG was coaching this team and 36yr old Clarence Weatherspoon or 34yr old Juwan Howard was on the roster... one of those guys would be starting right now. Morey would probably have to pull a Rafer, trade away JVG's vets and force him to play Jones/D-Mo because I can't see JVG playing them willingly. Too much liability. Especially in big moments.

Now that the team has finally started to show signs of 'gelling', maybe they should give the twin towers another shot, with Asik on PF?

I wish we traded Jones for a Vet PF. ): I dont know what we would have got for Lin, maybe Jameer Nelson, at least he is consistent.

PG or assistant coach who has played pg with winning playoff experience, for mental preparation.

Agree completely. Jones is a boy among men out there. Griffin and Jordan just annihilated him last night. He looked like a middle schooler out there, both because of his deer in the headlights play and his size. The guy looked tiny.

I agree there's a drop-off when Lin comes in. What he brings, we don't appear to need, and what he lacks is a huge need. We need a guy who keeps it simple, doesn't turn the ball over, defends, and hits an open shot. That's it. We don't need a guy looking to make a home run pass every time down the floor. Just a competent pro who minimizes mistakes.

    1. Roster stability: Consider how deep we are into this season, the team still played very few games with the intended rotation. Some of our players are simply playing way too much and some too little.

    2. Veteran experience: This is a young team. Would be nice to have a vet near the end of career who doesn't take a lot of cap space that provides stability in the locker room, especially one with championship experience.

    3. Role players filling their roles. Energy guys need to bring intensity to the game, perimeter shooters need to drain their 3s, defensive bigs need to protect the rims. Etc...

    4. I don't think the rockets need a 3rd superstar, it would be a nice-to-have. I'd rather have a player like Tony Allen & deeper bench than Kevin Love and no Asik/Parson/Lin.

    5. A solid defensive-minded coach

Time to find a veteran, D-League or Euro power forward who can at least provide the semblance of defense against Griffin and the other PF's of the West's playoff teams. At this point, I would settle for someone who could make him one dimensional; just a jumpshooter.

Point guard is not as a big an issue. I think Lin and Bev play well with eachother and that rotation is fine.

Power Forward needs to be a priority. Tjones constantly gets owned by good PFs and with a conference that has the likes of Duncan,Ibaka,Griffin,Randolph,Dirk we need someone that is reliable on defense.

we lack a legit starting power forward. maybe jones can eventually be that guy, but hes not that guy at the moment.

i actually think we are ok with bev/lin at PG, they compliment each other well. unless we can get rondo or that type of calibre PG
