DMO is getting better, I think he will be a beast in the future. But we still need to upgrade our starting Power Forward Spot for us to win that championship.
Agree on all fronts. Those moving screens that Griffin set ALL GAME LONG were a joke. Remember guys, we got them on the second leg of a back to back on a west coast swing at their place. With neutral conditions on a neutral court, we beat them as much as we beat us. I also think that PBev wears CP3 down over the course of a series.
2nd night of a back to back, 3rd game in 4 nights, scheduled loss and we played it on par for 3 quarters, more impressed than disappointed
I said in the other thread that I won't worry too much about the Clippers until the outcome of yesterday's game. The Clips proved me wrong --- they are our kryptonite. Rockets were doing fine until the six minute mark in the fourth quarter. We were petrified at the start and we ended it badly. If we are going to continue to play like that I'm worried what they're going to do in the next games.
The Clippers have a handful of role players that step up in big moments. Like most good teams that make runs in the playoffs have. Jones & Lin tend to disappear. Asik & D-Mo play at a constant rate, no elevated level, no 2nd gear. It's going to be tough in the playoffs if we cant find multiple guys to step up and contribute in big moments. Garcia and Parsons did it last year against the Thunder. But we need even more. Just not sure we have that on this roster yet. Factor in the Clippers' coaching advantage and I think they are the superior team right now, constructed better for the playoffs. We'll need some guys to step up to get there.
It's funny how all you got from that post was an attack on Lin when he also atacked Mchale really really hard, lol.
If Kevin McHale is, in fact, the worst coach in the history of the NBA this Rockets squad would have to be the greatest team ever assembled to have the record they currently have while being the youngest team in the playoff bracket. Hyperbolic much?
No excuse. We played absolutely terrified the 1st quarter. We seemed so in control the last 10-15 games and then all of sudden get scary against the damn Clippers, straight BS man. All last night tells me is that's exactly how we'll react in the playoffs
You still can not deny his lack of tactics, or lack of adjustments...he was brought here to be a players coach, i just dont think we have the bright assistant to help him eventhough i love sampson.. its sad when i " a homer rocket fan who sits at home to watch game" can say i have more basketball coaching iq and knowledge than a hall of famed
Don't they lead the league in points off turnovers? Boom. Bad matchup. We're like 29th in the league in turnover efficiency.
That and the Rockets aren't equip to handle teams with two dominant bigs. (I know its weird thinking of DJordan as dominant, but unfortunately Doc Rivers has him brainwashed this year for some reason). The turnover issue is key though. The Clippers do what the Rockets do but better. The only thing that makes the Rockets on par or slightly better than them is the depth... which is hit or miss sometimes with both Lin, Asik's attendance, and the young inconsistent bigs. The Clippers resemble potentially a worse case scenario for the Rockets if everything breaks wrong for them which is most definitely has in the 3 outings this year.
I posted this elsewhere but.... Well Rockets just don't match up well with the Clips - Plain and simple The Clippers biggest strength is the PG and PF position with all star (super star?) caliber players in Paul and a vastly improved Griffin. The Rockets OTOH biggest weakness is the PG and PF position with two below average PG's in Bev and Lin and young PF's who still have lots to learn. Down low they have DJ who is beasting and although Dwight is the far better player, DJ does a good job of minimizing that advantage Rockets have. Our strength compared to Clippers is the wing players in Harden and Parsons and both had poor games last night and when that happens you ahve zero chance of beating the Clips. I'm just happy with hung with them all the way to the end despite all those turnovers and back to back away from home.
Jones and Parsons really didn't show up tonight. Jones especially was bad. He couldn't catch the ball on so many plays. Rockets didn't play terribly, but definitely are still a W.I.P if they are going to contend. Games like this have a way of showing a team's true strengths and weaknesses. We've improved a lot since Nov, but still have a ways to go.
