Rockets is 20 -7 when Lin plays more than 30 min and 13 -2 Beverly plays less than 30 min It's obvious more play time for Lin and less for Beverly is crucial to Rockets winning.
This is becoming hilarious. Now we're making AB comparison to Lin. The stats everyone should really care about for Lin is how he greatly improved over the years. It's like we can't like JLin because there are other PG who has better or proven stats. Therefore his attention and praises are undeserving. It's like offensive to call kobe great when Jordan was better and start pulling out stats making a case.
Every time I use factual evidence to back up my argument, someone come along and attack me personally or use adjective such as 'bad' & 'horrible' to describe Lin as if that's sufficient to disapprove me. It's simple, use FACTUAL STATISTIC to back up your argument, unfortunately none of the Lin haters do this because they know it will expose Beverly as being the scrub that he is.
Lin seemed to make the shots that mattered most during that Linsanity run and a couple of games last year. I liked last years Lin compared to what is I see out there the past couple of games. The ability and confidence to shoot it or drive to the rim is essentially not there anymore when it matters.
Since when is stating 'Lin is better a player than Beverly' a troll? I am sure 90% of the world's population will agree with me. For some reason people on Clutchfans has intense, unexplainable vitriol for Lin, which is unfortuante because he's incredibly likable guy who has high character, and works hard to mold this team into championship contender.
Currently, Lin is not a better player than Pat Bev at this precise moment. You have to be an insanely bitter troll only here for Lin to not see that Bev has out performed him with the game on the line. Im a fan of Lin as well and want him to do well but have numerous times pointed out the latest facets that make Lin a scrub.
how quickly they forget the Triple Double performance by Lin and the despicable 6 for 31 performance from Beverly, almost as If that never happened.
I said this before and will say it 100 times if I have to. Lin's biggest mistakes, from my observations, are things stats will NOT show. The way he mentally gets broken down in the middle of offensive plays and breaks it up by trying to cut and or gets posted up by the defender and he gets "stuck in the mud". It causes our whole team to have to freestyle whatever play was called or drawn up. If you watch closely, now that I mention it I bet you will notice it more. Turnovers that gets converted into points, especially from the high school level passes or ball handling. Silly basic mistakes (like wearing slippery shoes, having a foot on the line, leaving his man WIDE OPEN). And while were on defense, what is up with him trying to assist one of our guys on double teaming. I swear it seems the player is NEVER phased by a Lin assisted double team. And being, very very inconsistent. Whether its having just a couple of hot games or couple of hot plays out of a match that has a higher ratio contrast of not performing so well. You cant really put this into numbers. You can replay those things on a DVR and see these things happening for yourself - facts.
I tried to stay away from this thread...but my word....some of the hate, and homerism is getting out of hand. Pat Bev - Deserves to start because he gives the starting unit what it needs in defensive intensity and quick ball movement. Doesn't need to focus on scoring when you have Harden/Parsons/Howard in the line up. Lin - Much more helpful off the bench as he adds the ability to create for himself, and open up shots for other teammates. People tend to forget a great stretch Lin had pre all star break. Pull for him to return to that status because we'll need it come playoff time. I feel as if some people think just because one bad thing is said about a player you automatically "Hate him." I get upset with Harden, Parsons, Howard (During his turn over days which he's done better as of late), Bev, Lin, etc. It's OK to to be frustrated yet still like the player....I promise...it's ok.
but 90% of the world's population lives in China and makes video's like these <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/x1LZVmn3p3o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Fact: Rockets are 17 -5 when Lin turnover ball over 3 or more times this season. Kobe led the league in TO for several season. Turnovers doesn't matter when you are so good at offense that it contribute to winning.
You mixed up things that seems like your trying to force being related in the Rockets case. And your nitpicking just 1 thing out of all of it.
didnt lin rip off 3 straight 18 pt games when harden was out a couple weeks ago, oh yea, all wins too...people on this board are comical
Lin is a better player but has not played better as of late. If I was building a team and needed the more complete and talented player, I would choose Lin 10/10. This is similar to asking whether you want Derek Fisher or Deron Williams on your team - if you have Kobe and Shaq, then perhaps Derek Fisher is a better "fit" but by no means a better player. The reason behind Lin's regression recently can be complicated, but I believe the majority of it to be due to his instability in minutes (i.e. Pat Bev takes a lions share of crunch time minutes) and a lack of the proper offensive role for Lin. Lin is not instant offense in the same way Crawford or JR Smith can be - Lin gets his rhythm through handling the ball and making plays. He has been unable to do this for the most part even when he is on the court. He is being misused and this lack of comfort, especially for a young player, is leading to a lot of inconsistency.
I understand your points, and they have merit that I myself have argued for before as well. But the Rockets have made their decision, with good reason. And no chance they will change their positions without Lin performing consistently for a (relatively) long period. Hamilton is in and seems to fit well. He's gonna get minutes at the 2. Canaan is "ready", says Morey. Asik is back. Motejunas is earning time. If Lin pouts, his 30 minutes will shrink to a pittance. Just watch. He'd be lucky to keep those 30 minutes to the end of season, even if he could bring his 'A' game from hereon. But Lin (and also LOFs) must have the social brain to figure out the current reality. If he doesn't, things will go down the tubes for him fast. And that is a high probability scenario, frankly.
You are implying that people in China only support Lin because of his skin color. So it's safe for me to assume you are anti-Lin because Lin's skin color is different from yours?
I want to caution against using the "eyeball test" to determine a players value because you will see what you want to see for the most part. I understand that as fans (and not professional statisticians/basketball gms) we must often rely on the "eyeball test," but you could spin things in many ways. For example, we could also argue that Lin's value also doesn't fully show up on the stat sheet: 1) Handles the ball and runs a pro-style offense better than anybody other than Harden on the team, allowing Harden to rest on some plays. 2) Great at setting the tone for team ball in the half court instead of ISO-mania. 3) Makes home-run passes that demoralize the other team. 4) Offensive threat and X-factor that forces the opposing PG to spend energy defending him. 5) Causes defenses to collapse in a way Bev cannot. etc etc... Not saying that any of these are 100% valid all the time, but just trying to prove that we need to be careful using "intangibles" as a reason for hating or loving a player.
You sure about that? Lin has coughed up injured in 2 consecutive post seasons. Pat Bev is learning and is younger or as young as Lin but has shown composure and taken over when it mattered in games of late and will be there in the Play Offs.
