I am very pleased with Mo so far, and I definitely want him back next year. That's why I defend him. If you go by the stats, sure you can make a case against him. But you can't judge a player by the numbers. I love the way he fits with the team on the floor, and I really like the idea of him as our long-term PF. (unless Webber becomes available of course) Mo tries hard every game for rebounds, its just in Rudy's system it is harder for a PF to grab boards, esp. the way Rudy plays him from the outside so often and also has a strong rebounder alongside him always. I dont know what Mo Taylor your watching ...but its not the one on the Rockets. Our Mo couldn't spell BOX OUT. ------------------
Cat The thing is . . RUDY DON'T WANT HIM OUTSIDE He said in the last game Rudy wants him going to the basket being aggressive He not doing it. . . or wasn't He will be ok . . . Look at this way We had 16 rebounds from the PFs now if we could get more points Rocket River Dragging someone down to raise another is weak ------------------
I just want Mo to run around and around the court and wave his hands and to confuse the opponents. He can be most effective by just moving out of the way and attacking the other players. Grab em. Jump on their back! Strike fear in their hearts! Pick up your six fouls and sit your butt down! ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
Hakeem Olajuwon:24min 11reb 12points 3blocks What a game!!! Thanx Mo for knowing you were off tonight, and allowing the other players to pick up the slack, by only shooting 7 times. You are a team player. Great game Hakeem!!! Rockets Win!! Rockets Win!1 Rockets Win!! ------------------ [This message has been edited by ROCKETBOOSTER (edited December 11, 2000).]
Cat, you really haven't been putting up a good defense for Mo Taylor. I mean 1 point and 4 rebounds? The Rockets better be glad they played the Grizzlies tonight, because like I've been saying all along, if the Rockets are going to contend with the better teams in the West, they have to get better PF play, and Mo Taylor, for the most part, has been pathetic. ------------------
I didn't read hardly any of the posts on this thread. All I can imagine is Mo bashing...Just wanted to point out how good of weak side defense he played, coming over and stopping the baseline moves. Yes he was absolutely horrible shooting(probably to be expected how he's trying to go inside now), but his defense was pretty dang good, specially the helping defense he showed from weak side. Even if it is Vancouver, he played good helping defense. Give the man some slack and time. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Digaida (edited December 12, 2000).]
Rockets R Us "Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!" You mean in the future Mobley will learn how to and actually pass the ball...inconcievable!! hehe ------------------
Good ole Cat, always towing the company line... Look, nobody came in here blaming Mo for all of the Rockets woes. Everyone contributes to the problem; however, not everyone is playing for a maximum guaruanteed contract next season. Shandon of course seeks mo'money next offseason but you don't see him reminding us every week. He's out the working his ass off, do what Shandon does -- da dirty work -- all while coping with the devastating loss of his mother. Damn, if I'd lost both parents in such a short time span, I doubt I'd even be able to walk out on the court, much less give the effort Shandon does. Thus far Cat, you must agree that Maurice just as not been as good as advertised. IMHO, we could his kind of production in next years draft, or in a second tier free agent next summer. If he wants max money, he just needs to go out there and earn it. I just don't think he's good enough. ------------------ It doesn't matter if I have a signature!
Cat -- please admit that Mo Taylor is a crappy rebounder. it's obvious you are confused: one post "check the numbers" later post "you can't judge a player by his numbers". so the numbers in the case of kenny's 39% shooting matter, but not in the case of Mo's pathetic rebounding effort . . . the fact is Mo is indefensible! and not in a good way! ------------------
Ok, let's stop with the ridiculous comparisions of Taylor and Thomas and let's do a meaningful analysis. Yes, it's the breakdown that everyone has been waiting for, it's Maurice Taylor vs aelliott from last night. <table width="400" border="1"><tr bgcolor="#CCCCCC"><td width="80"> </td><td width="20"><div align="center">Min</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">FG</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">FG%</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">Reb</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">Ast</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">PF</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">St</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">TO</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">Blk</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">Pts</div></td></tr><tr><td width="16%"><div align="center">Taylor</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">23</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">0-7</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">0</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">4</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">0</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">2</div></td><td width="20"><div align="center">0</div></td><td width="20"> <div align="center">3</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">1</div></td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">1</div> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="16%"> <div align="center">aelliott</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">0</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">0</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">0</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">0</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">0</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">0</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">0</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">0</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">0</div> </td> <td width="20"> <div align="center">0</div> </td> </tr></table> Ok, here we go: Minutes: Taylor got 23 minute more than me, but I'm sure that Cat would agree that it's obviously a case of Rudy not giving me enough minutes to get into the flow of the game. FG: Taylor was 0 for 7. I didn't take a shot. Same outcome, but I didn't miss 7 shots. Advantage aelliott FG%: Taylor 0%, aelliott 0%. Looks like a draw here. Reb: Taylor 4, aelliott 0. Sure he outrebounded me by 4, but that's not bad considering that he's 11 inches taller and 100 lbs heavier. Slight advantage Taylor Ast: Taylor 0, aelliott 0. Another push PF: Taylor 2, aelliott 0. I was able to avoid the silly fouls. Advantage aelliott. St: Taylor 0, aelliott 0. Another tie TO: Taylor 3, aelliott 0. Always protect the ball. Advantage aelliott Blk: Taylor 1, aelliott 0. Slight advantage to the tall guy. Advantage Taylor. Pts: Taylor 1, aelliott 0. Advantage to Taylor by the slimest of margins. So, the final tally is Taylor 3, aelliott 3 with 3 categories even. Not a bad showing on my part. If Taylor is worth $2.5M, then I'm a bargain at $1M. Now excuse me while I go hire David Faulk to represent me. ------------------ [This message has been edited by aelliott (edited December 12, 2000).]

IMHO it seems that Mo does not have the confidence or tenacity {sp?} to be a top notch rebounder. He always seems to be out of posistion and never fights for the loose ball like KT does.I`m not ready to call him a bust quite yet but he sure hasnt shown the steady improvement that I was counting on from him.I realize it takes time to adjust to a new team and new system but rebounding is not a "system" it is pure hustle and agressivness.Makes me miss Sir Charles ------------------
lol ,I say we cut Taylor and sign aelliott. Im sure he can put up those #'s on a consistent basis. ------------------
Will some of you watch the players under the boards? Mo is usually guarding someone on the perimeter, or the ball goes to someone on the other side of the rim. That Othella play with the 2 offensive rebounds, was NOT over Mo. Mo was guarding Grant Long who was near the perimeter. I've noticed that when Hakeem/Mo is in there, the guards go to the boards a little more often, which is why our fast breaks don't get started-the people who should be running are trying to get the rebound and are usually successful at it. We're getting like 16 boards a game from our GUARDS. The plays where they didn't hang around good things happened. Remember the big Mobley-Francis alley oop? Take a quick guess who gave the outlet to Mobley....Mo Taylor. I happen to think Taylor played EXCELLENT defense on Othella for most of the game. He kept him outside his best range (2 ft and in) and didn't back down. I've seen a lot of improvement in that area, and he helped Shandon out on SAR tremendously. Nevertheless, Thomas was a huge spark. He still drives me crazy on offense, but he did get the boards. This issue is not settled yet. But why are we arguing over a couple of players who play well every other game, so we're always getting a good game from a PF? Walt is acting just like last year. 1-10, 3-12. Is consistency that hard? Why in the world would you go double team, when the person you're guarding can go 20-10, and you're nowhere near him so he gets a wide open jumper? Bring on Morris! ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
Could it be, they crash the boards, because Mo is so inept at rebounding? ------------------ When we tire of well-worn ways, we seek for new. This restless craving in the souls of men spurs them to climb, and to seek the mountain view. -- Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Good thing we only have this guy for one year. Mo Taylor has hit an all time low. Maybe Mo suffers from "Ron Harper syndrome." I'm sure ya'll can figure out what that means: kicks ass for the Clips, then disappears on another. ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
Mo has a history of bad shooting games this year! And you want Rudy T to pull someone out of the game that is at least getting some rebounds in favor of someone that is contributing ****? And you want some numbers? Well here you go! MPG Mo 26.6 KT 23.1 FG% Mo .442 KT .388 FT% Mo .684 KT .737 Rebounds per game Mo 4 KT 4.9 APG Mo 1 KT 1.2 SPG Mo .20 KT .61 BPG Mo .55 KT .67 PPG Mo 10 KT 7.1 So as you can see in less minutes KT is better than Mo in every single catigory except points per game and feild goal percentage. And KT is getting less minutes. Kind of makes you go hmmmmmmm. So stop giving me this crap about Mo is playing better until he does play better! ------------------
Explain to me just exactly what Mo is doing that is impressing you so much? Please be specific since I am obviously blind! ------------------
