I tried (half-assedly) googling around for this answer, but came up empty, and honestly since I've been watching Rockets basketball, I don't think I've EVER seen it. I'm almost positive McGrady, Yao, Francis, Mobley, etc never did it for us. I KNOW Harden never did it. I know Hakeem did it a couple times and Maxwell had 51 once, but I don't think either happened since like the early 90s. Is there anything I'm missing?

This kinda blows my mind when I think about it. We've had a ton of great players and scorers go through Houston, but none of them can reach 50. This along with the no-60-win-team thing are kinda crazy.

Maybe both will finally happen in the Harden-Dwight era...

Harden was in such a Zone he could have got close to 60 if the game was on the line by the end of the 3rd quarter.

Too bad Sac sucks so bad, Harden would have had it if the game was in reach.

Then perhaps he wouldn't have scored as easily if Sac didn't suck?

More of a McHale decision. I think if we don't play LAC tonight then maybe Harden would have been allowed to go for scoring record, maybe.

That's why I laugh when people mention the all-time great centers and the list contains these very deserving fellows: Shaq, Hakeem, Robinson, Ewing, Russell, Jabbar, Mikan, Chamberlain- but inexplicably leaves off Mr. Malone. And I don't mean Karl or Jeff, either.

I think Max had that record possibly in the game when he put up 51 but I think Tmac may have broken that one.

Bill and Bull mentioned in last night's game that Mad Max (Vernon Maxwell) scored 30 in a quarter (in the 4th) which is the record for most in a quarter by a Rocket.

    You are correct.

Only 7 players in league history have scored 30 in a quarter...

    Wilt
    David Thompson
    Jordan
    Kobe
    Melo
    Gervin
    Maxwell

One of those names does not belong.

Calvin's was pre-3 point line, too. Not that he shot 3's anyway.

David Thompson he is the only one without two names!

Mad Max was awesome, I was at that game. Everything he threw up went in, capped off by a breakaway reverse. The Cavs backcourt was depleted that night. 7:40 mark, reverse jam.

P.S. There was a Mr. Mean sighting during mop up duty!

How many did T-Mac score in the shoot-out vs. Dirk his first year here?

    48. In fact, he had seven separate 44+ point games as a Rocket without ever getting to 50. TWO of them were against Dallas.
