Doesn't apply to us. We've had major injuries, and coin-flip losses based on bad coaching strategy. Plus the Western Conf. is tougher than it's EVER been in the past.
I agree, if they can take two out of the next three then they'll be at 40-19 and on pace for 55 wins this season. I don't think anyone outside of the organization and the BBS expected this team to be this good this fast.
I thought the Phil Jackson Theory was about being an arrogant jerkoff and taking credit for your hall of famers' wins.
We always struggle against Sacramento because Boogie neutralizes Dwight. That won't be an easy win. We need Gay and Boogie to get injured again. Clippers are good. Blake has stepped up and CP3 is back. Plus, we'll be on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. They're coming into the game on a day off. We should beat Detroit. No good reason for us to lose that game. I predicted we'd go 3-2 in the first 5 games after the All Star break. Right now at 1-1, it's still possible. Just have to beat the teams we should: Kings and Pistons. If we win at LAC, that's just a bonus.
Who makes the schedules why do we always play really good teams on 2nd nights of a back 2 back, it's horrible. I see us going 3-1, even though we always have problems with team who have good point guards.
I disagree with the West being harder than ever. The title we won with Drexler was facing some very serious competition.
2nd game of back to backs this year through February. Utah Portland Knicks Mavericks Spurs Warriors Detroit Memphis OKC Washington OKC Memphis Dallas Warriors Clippers Before the season started (when the schedule was made), OKC, Spurs, Clippers and perhaps Warriors would be classified as 'really good teams'.
And don't forget about the 2007-2008 season, all eight teams that made the playoffs in the West had at least 50 wins. Golden State was on the outside looking in with 48 wins. The difference between the first seed (LAL - 57) and the eighth (Den - 50) was only seven games. The conference was VERY tough that season.
That also has to do with their maturity as basketball players. I grant you that Jackson certainly aided that and is the best coach in NBA history. But I saw him get outcoached in x's and o's plenty of times, turn in lazy coaching performances because he knew he could rely on those HOF's to take over the endgames, blame officials and injuries for losses, not give opposing teams or coaches any credit, and show an inability to tailor his tactics to his personnel.
That is a disproportionate amount of teams that I would have expected to be in the playoffs this season.
the correct quotation shows more confidence behind Rudy's decree: "DON'T EVER underestimate the heart of a champion." /thread
