I said he led the team. When Harden or Howard leads the team in a win is that not valid either?

In my opinion Lin was the main catalyst to that winning streak, of course he didn't do it by himself.

My point is that he was playing REALLY well just a few weeks ago. He has a poor offensive game for a couple of games and all these fans turn on him.

Some of these Lin bashers should take a look at James Harden's game log in his first and second year as a backup in OKC. You'll find stat lines that are oddly similar to Lin's game by game performances.

I thought Lin played a good game against GS (certainly better than Beverley). His play got them back in that game and he gave them a chance to win. Against PHX the only thing Lin didn't do well was score the basketball. His 6 assists and 3 rebs and +/- were very good in just 20 minutes of play. I guess I echo those on this site who have said that in the NBA players have good and bad days. Lin has had a lot of stat lines like Beverley did tonight and has hit big shots in the 4th quarter in competitive games. But would Lin have escaped criticism for letting Dragic go off for well over 50% shooting from the field had he been the one who was primarily tasked with defending Dragic? I don't think so. Such is the attitude of a significant portion of the Rockets' fan base towards Lin and Beverley.

Beverley hit the game winner while Lin gave up an open three to Dragic after getting pump faked out of his shoes. If you make the winning play and score a career high you tend to escape criticism, such is reality.

Lin is an important part of the Rockets win streak and had a few amazing games, but saying he led the win streak is not true at all. That takes credit away from Dwight Howard who was 24/13 at 67 FG% over that period.

What does Harden's game logs from 3 years ago have to do with Lin now? He was 21 years-old at the time and showed signs of potential stardom. Lin is 25 and won't get much better. The only odd thing is you bringing up something that has nothing to do with anything.

    More insanity and desperation.

Lin is what he is, at least for the moment, hes just way too inconsistent. Yes has has lots of talent, but this fantasy about him controlling the offense will never happen here because we got two bonafide superstars in harden and howard.

I'm happy with what he's contributing now though in his 6th man role, gives McHale more leeway to roll with either Beverley or Lin when they get hot or one is struggling, while the 2nd unit still has the playmaking of Lin, we all know Lin is capable of putting together great games but the consistency and tenacity of Beverley is something you can't overlook. Dude is a baller, and a great yin to the yang of Lin, who is an x-factor, but just too wild atm.

Lin and Bev are both good players. An off night here and there, a great game once in a while, and solid playing in between. That's all there is to it.

I propose, for all of our sanity, that instead of judging Bev and Lin separately and pitting them against each other we should judge their performance from game to game as PB&J - an aggregate point guard that is important to our teams success. It seems McHale will play whichever guard is playing better that night more anyways. Last night PB&J had:

    22pts
    9 asst
    3 steals
    6 reb
    5 TO

I'm a huge fan of Lin, but his inconsistency is frustrating. But its almost rediculous how much attention he gets when he has a string of bad games compared to other players. The punching bag of CF posters.

With each day that this season progresses it becomes more and more obvious that the OP's conclusion is correct.

I was a bit skeptical at first because part of me was convinced Lin was the better player; and due to that fact alone, things should somehow work themselves out in Lin's favor. I no longer believe that.

Lin is still valuable part of this team, but he's exactly where he needs to be. Too unreliable to depend upon. A great spark at times. Your quintessential sixth man.

We are lucky to have this duo of point guards. Each hold their strengths but none consistently enough.
