Just watched the last ever Dawson's Creek. The series itself was never great but this was an amazing goodbye episode. And Jack, the reason I started watching the show, had a happy ending -yay! One of the better series finales in recent memory. X-Files - confusing and too open ended to allow for film sequels. Seinfeld - disappointing, pretty much a glorified clip show Cheers - unsatisfying with no sense of closure Newhart - reset switch was clever but overrated Oz - hated it. mellowdramatic. destroyed the Beecher/Keller relationship. Voyager - time travel paradoxes abound Next Tuesday is the last episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer ever Hopefully it will be as satisfying.
Dawson's Creek's finale was GREAT. I've always been a fan of the show, and stuck around through the obviously sub-par seasons (4 and onward) but this last episode was everything that made the show great! I'm curious to see how Buffy goes. Buffy has sucked ass this year. Last year too.
Cosby Show - Pretty good ending, IMO. Home Improvement - "Meh" ending. Wings - Bleh. The whole show turned to s*** after Lowell left. (Did anyone even watch Ned & Stacey? Great career move, Lowell...) Cheers - Sam turns the light off... and I shed a tear... Seinfeld - Ending sucked. Nice to see old characters, but WTF? Jail? Farscape - Worst. Ending. Ever. (not the writers' fault, though!) Star Trek: The Next Generation - Great, great last episode! Q rocks! Star Trek: DS9 - Overblown story arc that fizzled out. Not much of a happy ending. Star Trek: Voyager - By the end, I didn't give a rat's ass about the crew. So they got home with Borg technology. Big whoop. The real finale (after they got home) episode sucked. What a fitting end to an abysmal series... Buffy better damn well have an awesome ending next week. The show has been treading water for weeks now...
I was a huge "V" fan when Sci Fi reran it in '96. That cliffhanger where they didn't get picked up for the next season really pissed me off. Even worse, this was before I had internet access so I watched every airing of the show for like two months before I gave up on ever seeing any resolution.
For the Eliza Dushku fans on the board, rumor is her show "True Calling" was picked up by FOX and will air Thursdays at 9/8c, against C.S.I. and Will & Grace. Don't expect it to last long. They make their official announcement tomorrow.
Jen had some wacky heart problem. She died, it was actually pretty sad. She had a baby, so when I saw that I didn't think it was her that was gonna go...but Jack took the baby when she passed.
I HATE TO YELL BUT SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THEY TAPED THE FINAL EPISODE OF DAWSONS CREEK, IF THEY DID LET ME KNOW I WILL BUY IT OR WHATEVER MY damn vcr did not record right, SHoot! HELP!!!!!
TBS will re-air the Dawson's Creek finale tomorrow morning (Thursday) at 9:00 AM central time. It is 2 hours. If you don't have cable, the WB will re-air it on Wednesday May 28th.
Best Finale ever had to be Newhart. That was so classic. The second best would be Little House on the Prairie. The series was horrible, at least by that time. But in the end of the series Pa Ingles blew up the entire town of Walnut Grove. Now that's the way to go out. If you have to go blow everything up. It was hilarious.
I was a HUGE Quantum Leap fan back in the day and I didn't get to see the final show because they kept moving spots during the week. I finally saw it and I was pretty happy with it.
i thought the Cheers ending was quality. not the best, but good. my favorite series ever (well tied with the Simpsons), and i've only gotten to watch it through repeats. i thought it was kind of good to be open-ended. nothing was over, life just kept going on as it always had on Cheers. everyone still knew everyone's name and they'd still be seeing each other again tomorrow. it was better that way. seinfeld was a huge letdown. wonder how the simpsons will go out. if it's anything like the last few years, it will be a letdown. but maybe they've still got one last burst of brilliance left in them.
Dont you ever, EVER say that The Simpson's are going to go out. They're going to go on forever and ever and ever...
I thought that was the end of the show when that chick died! I turned it to the Sixers/Pistons game, and my wife got all PO'd...I was like, "What?? She died, you cried, that's it, right??" Those two dudes kissing was kind of gross...just doesn't have the same effect as it does on Six Feet Under...
The final episode of M*A*S*H was pretty good. Not the funniest episode, but one of the more dramatic (the scenes on the bus, for example). The final 24 (first season) was great as well.
