I finally figured out the problem with Generals (Duh I forgot to load a Motherboard driver adn that was wreaking havoc with my graphics card) so now I can finally play online. Let me know if you're interested just email me through the bbs. I will be around most of the weekend and have the day of Monday so I should be up late sunday night. CK
Will do Castor - haven't had any time lately, been out of town thus the delay in responding. You been playing BF1942 at all? Anyone else playing it with the Gulf War mod? It's sweet. DaDa you still have a server?
Gulf War Mod? What is this you speak of. I will most definitely have to check it out. I haven't played BF in about a month. Honestly besides the new Zelda I haven't played hardly anything in a bout a month. but with school letting out in 2.5 weeks I'll be free until the middle of July to play all kinds of stuff. I plan to start by getting myself back to where I was before I completely uninstalled Generals. I was at the last USA mission and lacked only that one from finishing hte game . I finished China yesterday and will finish GLA today or tomorrow. Unless I d/l the BFmod.
I have a question about this game. The recommended reqs for the game are almost insane for this game. Is this game as much of a monster as the box would have me believe?
In a word yes it is pretty rough even on high end systems, but it is possible to dial the options down and from what I have heard it doesn't make it look a ton worse. I have an AMD 2.4 with a GeForce 4600 and the last mission in china sometimes slows to a crawl because there are upwards of 300-400 units on the map(I am runnning it on max settings and none of the other missions slow down at all). I highly reccomend checking out the Generals Message Board and checking the forums for people running similar machines to what you have. You'll get a good gage of how the game will run for you, from that.
I just built a new machine and it runs great. P4 - 2.53ghz, 1gb DDR2100 RAM and a ATI Radeon 8500 (64mb ram)
Don't let my above post make you feel like it runs terrible. I don't have any trouble with the game on my computer except for the noted mission. I just know that it runs a little slow on some of the lower end systems. I love the game and would reccommend it as long as your system could handle it or as long as you don't mind a little slow down. Sonny where did you get the DS mod. I may look into that this afternoon when I get home. CK PS. I am running 512MB Ram but hopefully I'll be upgrading to a gig soon.
Here ya go CK, its not actually Gulf War but Desert Combat. It is a modern day US vs Iraq setup. Pretty sweet. http://www.desertcombat.com/?page=downloads Looks like they updated it, its at .35 now, I have .3 I'll have to get the newest mod. Check out the screenshots here http://www.desertcombat.com It's hard to fly these new machines, they go to fast.
One more question. Does it require Road to Rome? If so I guess I'll have to make a trip to the the Store this afternoon.
Umm I d/l'd the mod and played about 30 minutes of it. 1 single player game to get back into the feel of it and one multiplayer game. A couple of thoughts. 1st that mod is bad ass. 2 It will take me all summe rto learn to fly. I rode in the gun chair on an apache which was way cool since the guy I was with knew how to fly. we did crash but I made a spectacular leap right as we touched down and did not die. The bad thing was we crashed in the middle of eemy territory and since I don't have my legs bback under me from taking so much time off I got picked off pretty easily. I am more of a sniper anyway. However, the Iraqi sniper rifle is terrible. I'll probaby get a little more time in tomorrow nite. But anyone that is playing BF1942 needs this mod! CK
sonny - only problem with Desert COmbat is the balance, you're in a tank and it takes one hit and you're dead, so being in a tank sux nevertheless 1942 is still da bomb, send me an email over the weekend when you are playing and we can play together
America's Army rules. I played v1.0 of BF1942 for a few weeks (only online ) and was really unhappy with the netcode. Have they fixed that?
Supposedly that is one of the fixes in version .35 Smeg. I didn't play in a tank too much last night, so i can't really say for sure. I just remember seeing that on the list of fixes.
Oh yeah, its excellent now. Smeg - you are totally right, those tanks are very weak. I'll let you know the next time I am on.
Smeg, How do you connect? Do you have DSL and if so, what speed? I have just got my DSL set up and was wondering what it is like playing multiplayer games from Aus.
Davo, i have a 512 ADSL connection (4.5 gig limit) through an adelaide company called Internode, get very good speeds, suspect there aren't many users on my phone exchange. not sure what games would be like if your connection is only 256 get reasonable ping with overseas games, the connections are obviously better if you connect to local (aussies) games but often play on a 1942 server called Texas pain. we should play sometime, Smeg PS i have heaps of rockets games on tape (rockets2K gave them to me), when i am done, you interested? PPS likely will be in WA for wedding either later this year or early next year, we must get together!!!!
