No need for you to apologize. We appreciate what you do. So did it ultimately come down to Morey not wanting to give up Parsons?
No need to apologize Cyberx. Most of us appreciate the information you provide. A vocal minority here just don't have the brain capacity to understand that talks don't always result in trades.
Could simply be that the price was too high, and/or Morey didn't want to mess with team chemistry. He also seems to place too high a price on some of these players. Asik better get with the program since he's sticking around; Cleveland owner wouldn't pony up a first (no owner wants that contract). And then again, a lot of discussions might re-surface in the summer. I hope I've learned my lesson in following insider threads so closely. (dramatic pause) But who am I kidding?
Lets see.... Pau Gasol being shopped, didn't happen. Josh Smith being shopped, didn't happen. Luol Deng being shopped, didn't happen. Trevor Ariza being shopped, didn't happen. Rajon Rondo being shopped, didn't happen. I believe a total of 11 or 12 players were traded today and none were stars in this league. The only "semi-big name guy" that was moved was Spencer Hawes and the highest paid player was Marcus Thornton at somewhere over 7 million in salary annually. You guys are blaming a guy (or two) that gave us inside info for ALL THIS not happening?
Yes, he reported that every player yelled at Lin after we lost Lakers. Howard was not happy for his teammates.
I never bought the idea of Morey "coveting" Rondo, because of his recovery, his shooting and his personality. Not a good fit, too much risk.
Ok, there was a point, not too long ago, when people in the organization said we were more likely to see rondo in a rockets jersey than Asik. This was before he came back obviously.
hey CYBERX. Thanks man. we know not all deals go through...but glad you still brought us the latest info. please don't ever stop!!! thanks.
Well Lin/Beverley/Canaan Harden/Garcia/Hamilton Parsons/Casspi/Brewer Jones/Motiejunas/Covington Howard/Asik/Smith 3 deep ever position with the Hamilton deal now lol Still have Parsons, Asik and Lin, not upset.
That was confirmed as I was typing. And so did the Byron Mullens deal. Once was, is no longer a star.
No one is blaming anyone...... simply pointing out that you can use the "well most trades don't happen" excuse at any point in time. There are multiple reports that the Rockets and Celtics never discussed Rondo seriously... and it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that the Rockets want a third star and that Rondo will eventually be moved. Further, he said that Morey was willing to include Parsons (obviously false) and then that Harden and Howard are not crazy about Rondo's attitude (there is no way in hell Morey spoke to either of them about the deal with Parsons still on the team and available). It is fun, and Cyberx may very well have heard something, but to act like it is from Morey's mouth is foolish. It obviously was worth following his posts to me as I posted numerous times... but he isn't Wojo or Keith Jones.
I hope we end up hearing that we had no chance at Rondo. If that doesn't come out, it'll be the first time I've doubted Morey. That includes the chance we took on Royce White.
And too high of price. Ainge will try and trade him this summer but if all that falls through, I would expect a 1/2 price sale (a 1st pick asking) on Rondo at the next trade deadline.
