I think Morey is playing the game. He's trying to grow a Rondo tree. I was going to start a thread on this, but I'm on my phone and don't feel like it. I think all of this is posturing/ seed planting, ala the Dwight Howard thing two years ago. Morey is trying to pique Rondo's interest for when he becomes a free agent. He can say, look, we've been after you for a couple years now, and then the team can get to work on the recruiting thing. It's an effective method. The only potential blow to this theory is this: could we sign Rondo outright (say we've cleared Asik and Lin off the books in this scenario) and then turn around and still exceed the luxury by using Parsons' bird rights? If so, I think this is what's going down. Morey knows we are potentially playing at a championship level already. He won't break up the team to jeopardize that. Instead, he will see what happens this year and then pursue Rondo and not have to give up much, keeping the team intact. Chandler is too important a piece for this team.
So classic. Remember when people were buying custom MEXICO #7 jerseys off of NFL.com before they realized what they were selling and shut that down?
true that..but i really don't think we're going to trade parsons for rondo. the upgrade from beverly to rondo is not as much as the downgrade from parsons to...hamilton? lol
Yeah, almost just blocked that Patience guy. I guess people can't have 2nd chances in this world. Throw the first stone.
It says have eyes on Rondo, not will absolutely positively definitely make a deal that nets them Rondo. Really guys?
