He's second in steals and first in blocked shots among all NBA point guards, that isn't weak. Instead of weak lets go with undisciplined? He doesn't have faith that his team mates can handle their guys one on one and so he cheats to help. Kobe has been doing that throughout the series with SA and its getting the Lakers killed, so I'm not supporting that style of play by any means. He needs to stick to his man one on one, he's so fast that there is no way you're going around him. Usually when he gets beat its when his man catches the ball on the move and shoots real quick or drives. He's not the Glove but he is very capable. Again i've got to put one on the coaches. This is a behavior problem, not a talent problem. Rudy and the assistents need to convince him that his teammates are capable of playing D, they need to convince me of that too.

    xiki,

If you think stevie is over rated then I suppose you're all for trading everybody on the team but Yao and rebuilding (again). If SF is over rated then our whole roster is dead weight. Trade 'em all for scrubs, we'll lock down the #1 pick next year (if we can get past that rigged loto), sign a bunch of high priced FA's and win the whole thing in 2005? Name your trades, lets get started on this plan. We can bring in some true, quality players and see how they perform in an iso offense without the benifit of screens and ball movement. Make sure they're all old guys because we don't want to have to teach them how to play the game, that isn't something the Rocket's do these days.

I really think their are only a couple of players who are max type players. Garnett,Duncan,Shaq,Kobe,McGrady and maybe 1 or 2 more players. Is Francis one of them? No, but the market has been set that a good player is max worthy like Francis,Walker,SAR, Wallace. The truth is and no disresapect to all the Francis lovers, but a max type of player alone should get you into the playoffs as a team. Francis hasn't done it, so I don't think he's max worthy. As far as the best spent money, it can be argued about the Cato thing , but at least Francis is going to give you everything he has good or bad. Cato,Taylor,Rice, and Norris contracts were a very big mistake. Francis contract look bad if Ming improves and he becomes a complimentary player.

Sorry Guys, Steve is just poor when it comes to defence. He can defend his man, when he decides to make the effort, which he seldom makes. Its not his job to rebound, its his job to be the playmaker and he isnt very good at it after 4 years in the NBA. I want Francis to be better because I think he can be one heck of a player.

I've forgotten how long it's been since a true Steve bashing thread...I guess one was long overdue?

For anybody complaining about Steve's Max contract, it was Rockets management that was promising him that deal as far back as his second season. Personally, I think they could have signed him for less had they played hardball with him a little, but that's just my cheapness talking...

Can we start putting peoples ages by their posts? That would shed some light on these idiotic threads...

Francis is a solid point guard, good with the potential to be great if he learns to play with YAO and can cut down on his turnovers. True, if we had better big guys SF would probably have less rebounds, but also if EG, Mobley, and Posey shot a higher percent (at least the first 2 should have), then SF would have averaged 8-12 assist a again instead of 5 or whatever it was. Oh, and by the way Rockergordon, I'm 17 and I know what I'm talking about. I've been raised as a Rockets fan since I was five and I was born in houston, I'd say if you're going to question people's post, intelligence would be a better way to judge than age.

    It's cool.

I was sarcastically referring to the thread's starter calling Stevie overrated. I am a Steve Francis man.

OUTITAN? As in Sooner Nation/Tenn Tital fan? Kind of Go Big Red and (whatever color of) blue (Bud is calling that)?

The worst part of Steve's contract is that it means we will have to give the same contract to co-Rookie of the year Brand when we do a sign and trade for him. Then will have two overpaid ex-ROYs. :)

Yes, I was born in Houston and lived there long enough to be hooked on all the local teams and them pops transplanted me to Oklahoma where I went to college. I started writing stories and analysis for a titans website and picked up the moniker there and didn't change it when doing stories for Clutchcity.com.

Like I said, sorry about the angry reply, hadn't slept in a couple day at the time. Pushing a deadline and its all the tighter because i've been working to help out with the tornado damage cleanup here in Moore, Ok.

Thankfully red and blue pretty much covers the Sooners, Rockets and Titans and Astros. So I don't have to get too funky with my color schemes when at the sports bar or on the rare occassions that I can get to a game. I know my tv people appreciate my living so far away from all my pro teams. Then again I never have to worry about a blackout here...
