(now I'm biting, dammit) You say Mo hasn't had any impact. Rudy starts him and plays him 20-someodd minutes. Is Rudy wrong for playing Mo? You think Mo should get a DNP every night? Rudy doesn't play Carlos at all. I have faith in Rudy. Rudy wouldn't play Mo 20-someodd minutes a night if Mo wasn't the best option for those minutes. If you say Mo should play less minutes, then you start bashing Rudy. Mo is the only player added in the offseason that has seen any significant playing time. How could adding a player that sees significant playing time NOT be an upgrade? How could adding Mo possibly be bad?
I was probably wrong about that team rebounding business. I was just trying to make the point that I don't attempt to project players' statistics based on their performance with bad teams. (or REALLY bad teams, like the Clips) ------------------ I miss Charles.
"Does the defense double him? No." Watch the games more closely; Mo gets doubled when he receives the ball in the post. The defense really shows respect for his offensive game b/c they know the guy can put the ball in the hole in multiple ways despite having gotten off to a slow start. Take a look at how the defense reacts when receives on the low block; the attention he receives despite only averaging 10 PPG so far is very impressive. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
HeyPartner, Your are correct!! Gravy is very important to the steak and that is why i did not use that contrast in sustaining Mo Taylors value. Mash Potatoes can indirectley effect the steak while Gravy cannot help but directley effect the steak. Damn these Fran Blinberry metaphors!!! With or without Mo we will succeed!! ------------------
ROCKETBOOSTER = KENNY SMITH? Let's see!!! KENNY SUCKS!! (Now if you respond,...?) But seriously, my opinion is to let the season run its course and then make an assessment at year's end. It's still early, and rememer the "Clipper Curse". Everyone who goes through the "Clipper Experience" is just never the same afterwards, and usually takes about a year or so to readjust themselves to playing basketball again. Just look at Ron Harper. He was terrible the year after he escaped "Clippertraz Island", but he bounced back once he was reintroduced to the sport. But Mo still sucks!! ------------------ "ON-BEE-TAH-BULL!!", Hakeem Abdul Olajuwon, alumnus, University of Houston
WOW jamcracker, I feel much better now! I did not think there was much of an upgrade at the 4 from last year. But it apears after reading your post I relize that I have assesed Mo's contribution all wrong. I am going to surf over to nba.com right now and vote Mo right into the all-star game. Lets see....KT as a rookie last year: 8.3 ppg, 6.1 rpg and 1.6 assists per game while playing 25 minutes a game. This year from Mo as a 4th year player: 10 ppg, 4 rpg and 1 assist per game while playing 26.6 minutes per game. Hmmmmmm. Am I missing something? We have gained 1.7 points but loose 2.1 boards and .6 assists in 1.6 extra minutes a game. You call this an improvement??!! Me thinks you are far to easily impressed! ------------------
Please no more talk about not looking at the stats but look at the intangables that Mo brings! In the fourth quarter against the Grizz I saw KT aggresively grabbing rebounds in the paint. When it was obvious that he did not have the hieght to outright grab the rebound he continued tipping the ball giving one of his team mates a chance to grab it or until he could get it himself. I saw him play hard defense and make good shots. Now I am not saying KT is our PF of the future but I am giving you examples of how someone can hussle in an effort to help the team. How often do you see Mo play the boards aggresively? Mo has no intangibles! He is a one trick pony...a scorer and right now he is not doing that very well. And just for the record. Mo, avge 17 and 7 with the lowley clips last year. I don't think it is asking to much to at least duplicate those numbers. He has not been worth the 2.25 mil we invested in him so far and if he does not improve I don't even offer him a contract! Addios, MO! ------------------
MManal: Let me first say I was a huge backer of Mo T coming on this team and he was one of my favorite players when he played at Michigan with the "Tractor". So if it sounds like I don't like the guy, that is incorrect. I just wanted that to be known. As far as being doubled, every player will get doubled when downlow with the ball. Thats the nature of the beast, the farther away from the basket the harder the shot and when a player makes his residency in the paint he will draw extra players. HOWEVER, Mo Taylor rarely plays down-low he gets the ball at the top of the arc or out of the paint for the most part and turns and faces the basket. He almost never draws a double team. Certain players play better with less talent. I think currently that has been the case with Carlos and Kenny when compared to Maurice. This is not to say that he will not play better later in the year as Shandon had this same type of problem adjusting to our team last year, but the original question was would you want Mo back next year if he continued to play like this. I said for the money he is getting now maybe, but if he was asking for $5-6 mill then I suggest getting Keith Jones to personaly pack Mo's bags. If Carlos were to be healthy right now I doubt Maurice would be getting as many minutes as he has been. Throw into the mix Cato and Collier, and Mo being inconsistent for the remainder of the season and I would be surprised to see Mo playing more than 20 mins per game. OUT! ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
We've gotta keep Mo. You guys are all talking bout how great Kenny Thomas is, KT is shooting 38% from the floor. THAT STINKS FOR A PF! ------------------ PUT OLAJUWON ON THE BENCH AND KEEP THE ROCKETS DREAM OF WINNING A TITLE ALIVE!
