And he also gives you flexibility come playoffs time. The man has guarded Lebron James and done well. This can't be emphasized enough if you want to win it all. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Rondo does things that can only be compared to people who have retired and entered the hall of fame. Parsons, as much as I like him as a person and as a player, is not at that level. He had a hot shooting half of a game, but Rondo's had 20 assists in the playoffs. One game. Twenty. He's special. More special than Harden, peace be upon his beard. When I hear you guys say you wouldn't trade Parsons, I hear, "I wouldn't trade Battier for Stockton". Only Rondo is a better defender. And only 27 years old. He's averaging 10 and 7 and he's not even warmed up. Not in shape. Not playing with Harden or Dwight. Parsons is good, but Rondo is great. This guy is capable of leading the league in assists. We've never had that with the Rockets. No Rockets fan has ever seen a passer like Rondo play for the good guys. I want to add that he often commands double teams post injury. I hear that Magic Johnson guy could command a double-team from the point. Is that helpful to a team?
If I had to put any money on it. I'd say right now the hold up is the third team. I am going to go with this as the initial offer Asik/Lin/Parson and one first The Rockets are most likely trying to find a third team to send Asik to get another 1st rounder(Hello Hinkie)! Morey most likely doesn't want to deal Parsons and Ainge is telling him to find him another first. I will assume that Ainge would accept a Jones/Asik/Lin and two first for Rondo/Bass I don't know if the numbers add up, but something tells me I might be close to spot on with that one.
Fixed. Sure there is a talent drop-off between 4 and 5, but there is also a huge salary drop off as well. Parsons is also a 2 way player, unlike Anthony.
