Lin/Asik for Gordon works out financially, and on the court I think he's really a difference maker for this team IF he can coexist better than Lin on the court with Harden...

    Which IMO is very doable.

The only issue is the Rockets want to be flexible going into the Summer of 2015, and Gordon's contract run until 2015/16 which is a year too late. No way the Rockets can afford -

    2015/16-

    Gordon 15.5
    Howard - 22.4
    Harden - 15.7

Which is 53.6 million in those 3 alone AND resign Parsons that Summer before to a large contract. The Rockets could be right up against the luxury tax JUST with those 4 players which is probably too rich for Les' pocketbook.

So if the Rockets trade for Gordon, or are even thinking about trading for Gordon two things will need to be kept an eye on -

    A. Will they have enough assets to attach to Gordon at some point in the next two years to move his contract?
    B. Will they just assume that Parsons unless signed for super cheap is someone whose days are numbered as a Houston Rocket?

The solution- I think Morey should definitely consider this deal, but must insist on getting a pick at the very least in the deal that he can later use in the future to attach to Gordon if needed. I think the Rockets are going to be up against a rock and a hard place with Parsons regardless in the Summer of 2015 so I believe they should just enjoy the next year and a half with him on their roster for cheap and deal with Parsons' free agency that Summer and try and figure out at that point how they can keep him.

Eric Gordon IMO would be a huge upgrade for this team, and I do think that him and Harden can coexist in a 3 guard rotation, and can even play minutes together as well.

    Lin/Smith to Atlanta
    Teague/Brewer to Knicks

    Shump/Ilyasova/Artest to Houston.

    Aldrich/KenyonMartin/Udrih elsewhere.

With the news coming out that the Pellies are getting a DPE for Ryan Aderson, it sounds like he'll be out for the season which means they need another big man. I think they'll be talking to the Rockets about Asik. The problem is, they don't have much of anything to offer. So I think they're trying to move Eric Gordon for something to trade to the Rockets for Omer Asik.

This trade makes too much sense not to happen. I think both teams are waiting until the last min to see if they can get a better deal, though.

"The Sixers are $11 million under the salary cap, meaning they can absorb Asik's $8.4 million salary without sending back any players. They also have to add $5.1 million to their payroll to meet the league's salary floor of $52.8 million."

Dang can hinkie come through just one more time throw us the 1st to help facilitate this rondo trade ?

If the Rondo rumors are true, wonder if Morey would take back Thaddeus in order to get a pick out of them. Then you package the Philly pick, one or two of our picks, and Jones + Lin for Rondo. We'd basically be all in, but what a lineup.

Asik for Thaddues Young and a moderately protected 1st rd pick.

Lin, Jones, 3 first round picks (?) for Rondo

It seems ideal, but I can't imagine Hinkie giving up very nice 1st rounder for Asik. Keep in mind he is straight from the Morey school where draft picks are as good as gold.

how does giving up a 1st rounder for Hawes or trading a 1st rounder for Asik, help either Houston or Philly? A 1st rounder for one third of a season rental of Hawes seems steep. Likewise, i have no idea why Philly would give up a 1st rounder for a season and a third of Asik.

The 76ers are simply not going to part with their own first round pick this year. Maybe a three team trade where we send them Asik and another team sends us a first rounder. But Hinkie isn't parting with a top 5 pick in this draft.

I agree with that. I bet what Hinkie is selling is simply the cap space... the ability to take on Asik without having to send back salary. Hawes also, maybe some second round picks.

I'm talking about a straight up swap, no picks involved.
