It appears Spears got that one completely wrong. If it was all about scoring value Parsons would be the one who's kept if possible.

    He has revised his article:

    4. Houston Rockets (36-17; last week's ranking: 7): Houston would love to trade center Omer Asik, and a source said it is actively shopping Jeremy Lin as well. Both, however, have pricey contracts.

Marc Spears changing things up now

Wow, this is pretty weak. Not even a note at the bottom. I thought Spears was pretty good.

    he edited it
    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba-po...lYwNzcgRwb3MDMQRjb2xvA2dxMQR2dGlkA1NNRTM5OV8x

SPEARS edited the article an hour later, it was easy to revisit the article and clarify before creating a thread passing false info. Also there were plenty of other threads to put this in; this was discussed by several posters in the rondo thread.

Marc J Spears doesn't count as one?

But then he contradicts himself somewhat when he says this:

Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports fame says that such a move is unlikely, however, noting in his weekly power rankings that they "won't trade reserve Jeremy Lin due to the scoring value he brings."

Honestly, this type of stuff means nothing. Morey will trade Lin if he can get something good in return. He's just trying to establish that the Rockets value Lin and other teams can't be offering garbage for him.

I don't think fansided.com is a reliable source though. Not sure if Marc J Spears is reliable either, but he is more reliable than fansided.com

so really, it's because no one in the league wants to give anything of value for him.

Morey's only getting offered peanuts for Lin, and since cap is not an issue, it's simply better to keep him until his contract expires. Assik, however, is forcing the Rockets into a weak hand, something Morey is not accustomed to dealing with.

Still think both are staying and that a couple of minor deals will be made to fortify the bench.

This too was interesting enough to be its own thread.... it's buried in the others.

Doesn't surprise me when you consider the source. I've heard Spears in interviews on the radio were he sounded drunk.

Goodness gracious guys. Does anybody really think that Morey wouldn't trade Lin? We ought to know better by now...all of us.

And there's several possible trades for Lin....despite that turrible balloon payment. It's simply a matter of lining up the right deal. The odds of Lin (and Asik) finishing out their contracts here are very small. And the odds that one (or both) of them get moved in a couple days is rising by the minute.

My opinion is this is exactly what I expected, that the Rockets would actively shop Lin. I said this in the podcast with Adam Wexler (34:20 mark) three weeks ago or so -- I just fully expected his name to be out there at the deadline. I don't necessarily think he will be traded at this deadline, but I think the Rockets are letting it be known he can be had, and are using this deadline to gauge his real trade value, whether it's positive or negative.
