That's a killer line-up,but it took us this long to get the chemistry we have now,29 games I don't think will get it done
Normally I scoff at folks saying Lin is a better defender than Bev, but I have noticed what you're talking about, Lin taking the tougher cover. Like, when we played the Mavs, I think we had Bev on Calderon and Lin on Ellis. Might be a size thing. Lin and Ellis are both big PGs, Bev is a small one.
If we trade Chandler in a package for Rondo. I will drink my own piss and shove a pickle up my *******.
Okay I don't completely disagree. The real question is do we realistically go after KD in 2016. If so we do not need to trade him for anything. We have to clear everyone not named Harden or Howard to sign KD to anything worthwhile.
we dont need to make any trades... i like the way our team is playing!! ( the seven game winning streak is proof).... if we are to trade, i would only be fine with asik gone... but i seriously think we should wait till after the season... if we dont win the championship!
Lin plays better team defense. he always fights hard through screens and mostly keeps his man in front of him. Bev is a pest who annoys and annoys and steals the ball. He gets tough rebounds as well. I give the edge to bev because of the total results but Lin mostly should get the harder cover.
I was never really a cyber believer. And I didn't and still haven't gone through this whole thread. I did make it to page 5 though. Cyber posting the Sacramento deal and then Spears from Yahoo posting it hours after is amazing to me. Good bye Chandler Bang. Hello Rajon
hey buddy, he DOES have an ego. Being treated like a superstar the minute you arrive to a new place will do that to you. The Harden who wasn't aggressive died in OKC the minute he left to forge his own "superstar path" in Houston. So, no, he was not going to be the third wheel for the rest of his career. You're fooling yourself if you think a guy of his talent would've been content with that. He and Rondo could work very well together but it's also just as possible that they will clash because they both demand the ball. Something's gotta give. As for his volume of shots, he should shoot all day long - when he's having a good game. Far too many games he's continued shooting when he doesn't have the touch for that game. He needs to pass on those days. Yes, he has far less of an ego than say Kobe or Melo. He will always be more of a team player than those two clowns any day.
Morey has never been a pass on an opportunity type guy. I suspect Ainge has privately decided he won't resign Rondo to a Max deal this or next off season and he wants to move him now then let him walk for free sometime in the future. Plus all Rondo does is increase their chances of not getting a hi pick. So that's why this opportunity is there. Morey sees it and being the Red Vulture That he is (I mean that in the most endearing way). He is ready to prey. What another poster said "Rondo won't sign for the Kings or the Raptors gives this bird wings. The thing is Ainge won't give him away free either. My problem is Rondo is a past his mid-career PG coming off major knee surgery who has peaked, he has major flaws in his shooting, and will demand a max deal after next season. Are we just renting him for a year and a half. If so what's the asking price. TJones Asik and a first. I'm okay with that if we can get a stretch 4 to replace Jones. Parsons too. No, no, no.
We don't need Rondo. He can't shoot to save his life. He doesn't fit the system and teams will just leave him open like they do to Ronnie Brewer. And plus McHale don't even have the right plays to make Rondo effective. We shouldn't trade away what we have for a rental. Especially Chandler or TJones.
I really would love Rondo, while he can't shoot 3's, he is spectacular inside the arc, minus his rookie year he is a career 49% shooter. One of the best finishers in the league, and more importantly he would take the ball out of Harden's hands. He is also great defensively, his long arms create lots of problems. The problem is Parsons, no way in hell I would give up Parsons unless there is another major, and I mean major, piece coming back. Him for Rondo straight up is a bad idea. Rondo is a great player, just because he can't shoot the 3 ball people grossly underrate him, but he's not worth Parsons. We would also need to add a shooter.
Chandler is one of our best 3pt shooters. Idk if this will happen but if it does the offensive system will change for sure.
Rondo, Pierce, Allen and KG co-existed pretty well. Not much different than what we would have with him.
Pair him up with a guy with one guy that has a giant beard and a Mohawk and a freak of nature who can't stop smiling ever and goofs around at every opportunity. Terrible idea. Kobe called him an A-hole, this is his response: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/yE8qNdY644o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Me too, man. Me too. But my reasons might be different. But I feel you squeezing while I squeeze mine. Wait, wtf? You will only need one jersey and if people don't like it, they can go to hell. Chuck Hayes. I think he's very tradable now. The days when he decided he was going to make it in the league as an incredible defender who could shut down a prime of his career Dirk Nofwitzzzzki are long gone. Not sure what happened. Last years, "lets score and have fun and not play defense" attitude seemed to stick. Still a great contributor, but I want to see him turn that attitude on again against the best. Why was friggin' Garcia trying to stop KD in the playoffs? That's the old Chandler's job. Oh well. I'm watching clips right now. I want to know on my own what he can do. Watching the Spurs game, his lateral quickness is there. His arms are still long as f*rt and his vision hasn't changed a bit. He is slower when he starts his moves. I'm not sure what's going on there. It makes me nervous, but I'd still pull the trigger. Rondo is special. In fact, his injury is probably the only reason we can get him. Otherwise, we don't have enough to gamble with to get him. I'd do it for sure. He doubles our chances of winning it all AND a first round exit (because of re-injury). Covington can shoot and rebound. I would not worry about his ability, only his experience. He hasn't seen much time in the NBA and suddenly you're relying on him.... price of taking a gamble. Has Parsons gotten 20 assists in a game? Rondo has done it in the playoffs. You're talking playoffs. Toughest teams every year play in the playoffs. He's also had 24 in one game and I believe he had 21 through 3 quarters another game. He's not a little special, he's got John Stockton type vision. "With 18 points, 17 rebounds, and 20 assists against the Knicks on March 4, he joined Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, and Jason Kidd as the only players to have at least 15 points, rebounds, and assists in the same game." Try this if you don't believe me; paste this into google: rajon rondo 20 assist games He can take jokes. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/SWPfR9T-43I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "You guys want chips, a ring, anything?" Doing one right now. He looks tender, but I still do it. He's got championship pedigree and seriously, 24 assists. No one in the history of Houston Rockets basketball has EVER EVER done this. Don't underestimate what kind of quality he can bring. Even if he's slowed down. This ain't Westbrook who would be nothing without his speed. It's Rajon Rondo, Mr. champion 24 assist guy who can be used in sentences with Wilt and Magic. For jebus sake, he's a better player than Steve Nash. Do it. And don't step away from the table until it's done. He's 27. Do whatever you want. Sell your future. Sell anything but Dwight and Harden, but CONSIDER those guys too. He's incredibly special. Spurs fan? I'm trying to peg you, but I can't figure it out. Quiet LOaF, Rockets fans are talking. This is important. Mr. Rondo is a very respectable man. Jordan leaves and the Bulls go back to the Eastern Conference championship and lose by one last minute play. How far does the 93' gang go if you had to guess? Don't sell Olajuwon short, the man was every bit the player Jordan was. I could not agree with you more. I love looking at him guard Lebron. He's saying, 'bring it' with every part of his mind and body. Nice read. Thanks. How did this become a Lin discussion? Anyway, Lin, is a much better SG defender than he is a PG defender. He's not that great against great ball handlers. He is quick as f*rt and that bugs non-ball handlers that are forced to bounce the ball on the wood.
I would be disappointed but it wouldn't be the end of the world, I mean the only reason he is valuable to us is because he is incredibly cheap. If we get rid of him now it will ease the pain of having to decide later if we want to pay him a ridiculous contract or let him walk. I love Chandler but for what he is going to demand (anywhere from 10 to 12 million a year) we could find a pretty good replacement. I mean its not like Chandler is that unique of a player, there are tons of wings that you could play 35 minutes a game and get the same production from. All that being said, if we could swing Rondo without giving up CP I would be ecstatic.* *unless we gave up T-Jones, I think he is the X-factor on our team, and I think his development is going to be one of if not the most important things in us winning a championship.
You're assuming this is as good as Parsons will ever be. I still stubbornly believe he can be a better defender than this. He was a better defender than this his rookie season. If he ups his defensive play he'll be pretty much an all star level player.
