Im listening to the Vancover guys on the web and they are all three saying Francis was a fool. What happend ? btw they sound like MORONS ! ------------------ [This message has been edited by DAROckets (edited December 11, 2000).]
Francis dunked the ball at the end with like couple seconds remaining. Then taunted the crowd, jumping up and screaming to the fans. After the grizzles miss, francis ran with time clicking off and placed the ball on the halfcourt and just took off leaving the court jumping up. The dunk was nasty. ------------------ Vice President of the Jason Collier fan club! [This message has been edited by Francis3 (edited December 11, 2000).]
I say Francis wins the slam dunk contest this year. Vince C ain't got nothin on him this year. ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!
I am getting a bit tired of his showboating, hopefully he will grow out of it, this is why everyone outside of Philly hates Iverson. Francis will get the same thing if he does not show some humility. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
That slam was the greatest! It could not have been sweeter, considering everything! ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
Don't you mean, they sound like idiots aye ------------------ The National Basketball Association obviously revolves directly around Bob Finn's Fantasy Basketball League!
btw, they are MORONS! aye ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing! [This message has been edited by ROXRAN (edited December 11, 2000).]
Dadakota, Francis doesn't showboat that blatantly towards anyone except Vancouver. And he only does it to them because they insist on booing him anyway, so I think that makes it fair game. It's true that Francis is enthusiastic when it comes to his dunks and the like, but who wouldn't be if you could do on the court what Francis can do? ------------------ [This message has been edited by RunninRaven (edited December 11, 2000).]
They sit there and cheer when he gets fouled hard....screw them. On the showboating note...isn't it nice to be entertained when you go to a game...sometimes I see Francis and Mobley slamming after whistles and it seems like a show for the fans more than anything... enjoy it when it's playful like that. Francis sure s something special though, am really excited n the possibility to see him through many years as a Rocket...he s a gem... ------------------ [This message has been edited by Digaida (edited December 12, 2000).]
for all the rooks in this forum, save your breath. DaDakota can't stand Steve, never has liked him. He wants to bring in Andre Miller as a FA and trade Steve and A #1 for Dickerson. ------------------ "I am" is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that "I do" is the longest sentence ? [This message has been edited by gr8-1 (edited December 12, 2000).]
DaDa... You are really off. Are you sure you're not from Vancouver. This hatred you have for Steve has got to stop, I mean did you watch this game (or any of the games for that matter) or are you just talking out of your arse again. Did you not hear all of the booing by the Canadian crowd? Did you not see the first hard foul Steve took from Grant Long near the scorers table that the Canadian fans cheered for? Did you not see Stevies jersey after the second hard foul from Grant long (that the ref did not call by the way)? Stevies antics at the end of the game was not showboating, if anything it was poetic justice and simply punctuated the fact that though Steve and all the Rockets for the most part were mistreated during the game (awful officiating), the Rocks still prevailed. That dunk and his placing the ball at mid court and running off was not showboating, it was a statement, it said: Screw you Vancouver, not only are we a better team than you, but Steve is a better player and person than you give him respect for Oh and by the way I don't think that Reebok would see Iverson as marketable if they thought that only the folks in Philly were buying his shoes. I do not hate Steve Francis, I just want him to grow up and mature faster and lead this team. I love his enthusiasm, his heart, and his will, I can do without the showboating. As for Andre Miller, it is a preference, I would prefer a more disciplined PG, more traditional if you will. I would not trade Francis for Miller, I was trying to make a point about Francis being declared a superstar, when he is not there yet. Sheesh !!! As for showboating, you can not honestly say that the high stepping, and antlers(horns?) deal would not annoy other teams fans. You guys act like these players are above criticism, they aren't, and they are all in my convoluted(sp?) bullseye !!! DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
...the difference is that Pippen isn't ours AND Steve IS!!! You are supposed to cheer when your guy rubs the other guys face in it!!! Who gives a flyin' fruggernaut if anyone outside of H-town "likes him"....why would we want that!?! HE'S NOT FOR SALE!!! ------------------ C-son
I think there is a big difference between Francis and someone like Iverson. I think Francis does a lot of his "showboating" in a playful way. How many times have you seen Francis pretending like he's mad at opposing players? I've seen it a number of times, both last year and this year. The wolf ears thing that he and the other guys do after a defensive play that leads to a bucket is just an inside joke that he and the fellas (Mooch, Wiz, Cat) do. I think he's basically just having fun. As for his display last night, I think that it was just a lot of emotion coming out. I mean, the Vancouver fans were being pretty harsh (I can understand the constant booing, but cheering whenever he gets knocked down is ridiculous). All things considered, I think Steve handled himself well and maintained his composure. He kept those emotions inside of him the whole game, and when he had that play at the end, he just let them all out. Maybe as he grows and gets more mature he'll learn to keep those emotions in throughout the entire game. Until then, I don't think the occasional outburst is that bad....hell, it's pretty damn entertaining if you ask me. ------------------
at least he didn't go into the stands and spit on a little girl like one of our former beloved rocket. ------------------
Man, that was spectacular, but even more better if mobley threw the ball little behind Francis to catch.Mobley and Francis always thinking of putting up a show on the floor. ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
I have to agree with DaDakota. I like Francis and the fire he has but, he could tone down some of his antics. It seems like he gets a technical every night. If it's not hanging on the rim after a dunk, it's for taunting the visitor's bench. I think he got a T for taunting Seatle's bench and I don't remember if he got a T against Dallas or not but, I remember him saying something to their bench and you could read Don Nelson's lips telling Steve that he didn't need to act like an a$$hole. I think Nelson told him that he was too good to act like the other jerks in the league. I'm glad someone told him. I did see Steve go up to him after the game just as they were going into the tunnel and put his arm around him and tell Nelson something and Nelson patted him on the head. So, I guess Steve apologized which shows class. ------------------
