For the PRC-ARC record, I am neutral with ARC leanings. I can handle RT fo another year, but I fully expect to see some ball and player movement.

Regarding Jeff Van Gundy, I was doing a little research and found this interesting tidbit from an April 15th article about the Knicks extending Don Chaney :

"Chaney, 56, has now received three extensions since taking over for Van Gundy, who remains contractually bound to the Knicks through July 31. If Van Gundy were to take a job with another team before then, the Knicks would have the right to demand compensation. "

From this, it appears the Knicks must be contacted by a team seeking to speak with JVG. Regardless of Rudy's situation with the Rockets, it doesn't appear JVG will take any job before July 31st. IMO, if JVG even talks with an NBA team it should hit the media fairly quickly.

True. But Knicks granted OK to NO to talk to JVG (who 'just said no').

I think you missed the point. There isn't anyone here who doesn't know about the recent JVG/NO info...JVG responded to NO directly. But I have never seen it mentioned that JVG is still legally contracted to the Knicks. Of course they are not goung to stop him from talking to any team, but...

    1) Will the Knicks want compensation if a contract is signed prior to 07-31?

    2) It would be impossible to keep any JVG meeting with a team out of the press.

    These are my points.

Your points are well taken. Mine was that (it seems) the Knicks are being reasonable at this point about JVG.

Besides, when JVG lands he is likely to push to reattain his favorites, ie Spree, Thomas - others from that bloated roster? Knicks figure on redesigning roster with JVG's 'help'.
