    No, just no.

Think about the stories your best friend will say.

If they broke up, that will be awkward.

Absolutely not. I would consider my BIL and myself friends now, but that is a different situation since we met because of my sister. And he never talks about anything with my sister to me.

That would be a no and I don't even have a sister. I would never date one of my friends sisters either. Thats just an area you don't touch.

Depends on the friend. I gave some friends who I know would treat her well, and others that probably would not.

I would not set them up, but I would not try to stop them either. It's their life and I'm not a meddler.

Of course I would, why not? If the guy is my best friend, that kinda makes it more safer than have her dating some complete stranger you have no background of any kind? You know who he is, you know where he lives, interest/hobbies whatnot, and he knows not to fuc with your sister, right?

    From Wiki:

Best Friend or Best Friends may refer to: Best friend (friendship), someone with whom one shares the strongest possible kind of friendship; Best Friend (play), ...

I've always thought about "If I had a sister, how protective would I be?"

First of all...there's no "Let" IMO. It's her choice. I would be honest and up front with her about my friend, whether he's a jerk, or whether he's truly a good person.

Next step, be honest with your friend. That this could end a friendship if you were to Cheat on her...treat her wrong...etc.

    Can't protect her forever.

I think you flip flopped it. My sister would never ask permission, but maybe my friend(s) would. So ... would you let your friend date your sister?

Hell no. Have you met my friends???

Absolutely not. My friends are animals. I am very protective of my sisters.

    ... BUT

At the end of the day it is not my choice whether they date or not but I would not be okay with it. I don't have the right to ban her from dating anyone but I don't have to approve of it. I am still the over-protective brother and won't be afraid to act as one if I need to, but its 2014 not 1950.

    Have no sister, but:

    Depends on the friend:

1: Have some that bang everything in their way, would never let them close to a hypothetical sister, because they'd probably dump her after a while and leave her depressed and heartbroken.

2: Many of my friends are smart, genuine people that are looking for love and a long-term relationship. Know they would treat their girlfriend good, so I'd have no problem with it, as the relationship would possibly make the sister happy.
