Could Ricky Rubio low pt and FG% be a product of having too many great scorer?

He'll be better than Rondo if he matures soon enough. That said, he might be the PG Rockets are looking for (instead of Rondo due to age and injury history). Though I still have apprehensions. If somehow Rubio can sustain this performance even when Love returns, I'll be a believer. Contrary to some detractors here, Rubio is quite good in his mid-range game.

Please stop with the excuses. The guy just cant score.

He is a poor shooter and cant finish around the basket.

Timberwolves play 4 on 5 offense most of the time because thats how the opponents play them due to Rubio.

Jeremy Lin? Sorry, can't resist. Seriously though, Stevie I believe was like that. He couldn't catch and shoot to save his life IIRC. He would always seem to dribble first before shooting. Part of the reason why he made an awful SG.

But I believe Rubio's actually not bad off the catch and shoot.

He`s a terrible shooter, doesn`t really scare anyone offensively, maybe with his drive and dishes. He didn`t finish well against us, I guess with Dwight and Asik it`s obviously more difficult.

I`d rather have Rondo. Rondo is much better at what they do.

Rubio makes Rafer Alston look like Larry Bird.

We were daring him to shoot or drive also. Bev and Lin weren't even covering him. They were just covering his passing lanes.

I would fear having Rubio as a starter on a playoff team. When you have a huge weakness every coach in the league is going to exploit you in a 7 game series. When teams play defense in the playoff its nothing like regular season defense. They are going to clamp down on him with a defender or double team love and dare Rubio to shoot.

It's funny because I think when players know you can't know they probably tend to play you harder on defense because their thinking "hey this guy can't shoot I'm not going to be the clown that lets him score all over me".

I wonder if he has this mental block when it comes to 3 pointers and finishing at the rim like D12 with his free throws.

Ok, I realize you were trolling a bit, but Lin is actually an above average shooter overall (44.5 FG% career). Lin's outside shooting is a bit below average, but not far from the norm. Rubio, on the other hand, is historically bad, and on three years of wide open shots.

How much playing time? 60 minutes a game? There are plenty of NBA guards who get plenty of minutes yet don't come close to 20 points a game much less 25.
