The fair comparison is Dragic vs Harden, NOT Dragic vs Lin. We need to compare our first option against their first option. I would still take Harden
Its been said many times before that Dragic was still putting up damning numbers running with Bledsoe. Morey done goofed
He almost certanly would not develop into the player he is today if he stayed with Houston. Harden's presence would force him to be 3 and D guy, while Lin would have big numbers on a lesser team and you would come here, complaining how the hell did Morey sign Dragic instead of Lin
You guys do realize that a Dragic that never left the Rockets would be the 3rd or 4th banana on the team, and he'd be different from the Dragic of now, who had a year to play through his mistakes as "the man". He's a good player, but it's too early to chastise Morey until the offseason after Asik's and Jeremy's contracts expire.
Look I like Lin a lot and happy he's on the rockets. I also agree with you that Lin would be putting up bigger numbers on a bad team however I do think dragic is currently better then Lin and the rockets would no doubt be a better team if we had kept dragic. Dragic is more experience and currently hitting his prime and playing at a extremely high level. Lin is still improving and you can see the difference in the two on the court. Dragic makes fewer mistakes and is more consistent. Lin is still a few years behind dragic and that's perfectly fine, dragic has been in the league a lot longer and he wasn't always this good. I do think looking back morey should had kept dragic. However all gms make mistakes and morey has made much more good choices then bad, I still strongly support morey as our gm. I love the build of the current roster and it's also exciting that the roster still has the flexibility to make a few changes and I'm anxious to see what morey can do. With or without dragic we still are a upcoming team that is getting on other teams and their fans radar. It's a pretty good time to be a rocket fan. Btw I also didn't like our past trade of Rudy gay for Shane battier, but looking in hindsight who cares, we wouldn't have won much going either way.
I was watcing that game and no one could guard him. I like steph, but against every legit pg,he has to guard someone else.
Well I wanted to show you maybe Morey didn't make a mistake afterall. Say we keep Dragic and he doesn't develop as quickly as being in PHX. Can you honestly say he wouldn't come off the bench for Bev like Lin does? I think he would. I don't want to say Bev is better, but Goran would have same problems of fitting in with starters as Lin does nw.
He gets a lot of calls his way , that Lin would never get. Lin is practically mugged when he goes for layups.
Goran was one of McHale favourites while playing in Houston if I'm not mistaken. During the 2nd part of the season he put up starting numbers that were better than Lowry’s. I have no doubts that had Goran stayed in Houston he would be the starting PG getting as many (if not more) minutes than Harden and Howard. Goran's playing better than Harden this season even if we disregard his abysmal D game. If we add that into account, it's not even close. I already put up a few stat lines, that rightfully insert Goran amongst the best players in the league this season. After his last season with the Rockets, he was consistently the best player on the Suns. Last seasons team was absolutely horribly constructed and made everybody look worse than they were. Though Goran has prevailed through all the adversity and showed after last years AS break, when his (half season) average almost reached 18 and 9, that he’s one of the best guards in the league. In my book, he’s been indisputably proving that for 2,5 years now. It’s quite dismissive to compare him to Lin, though I do feel bad for the guy within the Rockets system as it’s currently constructed. Goran is better than Lin now and will be in 5 years time as well. And the sam goes for Harden. As a die-hard Suns fan, I started my first post with a sincere thank you to Morey. After all is said and done, I might even send him a handwritten thank you note as well. Goran’s been averaging 18,4 and 6 in more than 2 months as an SG playing with Bled. He was consistently in the top 3 SGs according to PER and when Eric went down he took over (just like he did in Houston) and has been playing (STAT check if you don’t believe me) as the best PG in the league since than. After getting POW honours the week before, he’s been averaging 27 pts, 61 FG% with 6,3 ass last week. I say with great confidence that is supported by numerous stat lines, that Goran is indisputably the best combo guard in the league right now. We’ll see what Westbrook does when he comes back. But at this moment there’s absolutely no doubt. His scoring efficiency from the guard position is virtually unmatched by other guards. And that applies to his game at both positions. I’m almost scared to think how good could the Rockets backcourt be with Dragic and Harden. Luckily I don’t have to, as we’re creating our own version of the most potent backcourt in the league with #DragonBlade. EB and Goran were ranked as the 2nd best backcourt in the league (after GS Splash brothers) before Eric went down. If some people still though that might be couse of Eric, Goran has indisputably erased all those theories. He’s the engine that makes our team go, just like he was in the 2nd part of 11/12 season with you guys. He completely outplayed Curry in this match, on defence and offence and showed that he might be one of the biggest snubs in the history of the AS game. Thank’s again Morey! Becouse of you we have this outstanding elite level player on an arguably the best contract in the league. Thank you!
I'm really happy for Goran, and like I said he has been playing like the best PG for a while now. That being said, even if he has had a better season than Harden overall , Harden is the better player 9 times out of 10. I'm quite hard on him (no pun intended) most of the time, but the dude has been injured most of this season. Harden is simply the better player. If Goran continues to do this for another season and Harden regresses, I'll admit that Goran is the better player. But as of now you are being a homer. Patience is key.
I agree with you up to a certain point. If you take Goran out of this Suns team and insert Harden in his place, do you think that team does as well (with Bled injured) as it has with Goran? On the other hand if you take Harden out of this Rockets team and replace him with a much better passer and more efficient scorer in Goran (not to mention his D game), what would the Rockets score be than? Any certain conclusions are of course pure speculation, but I belive that within the confines of a TEAM game, Goran would prove to be a better fit on both teams as they're currently constructed. I did hear about Harden's "high ankle sprain" though and I know from personal experiences how big of a b**** that "ish" is. If he's still feeling the effects of that injury he's showing a lot just by playing through it. On the other hand (again), Goran has been playing injured for the past month as well. He sprained his ankle for the 3rd time this season a couple of weeks ago (EURO step can be an ankle killer) and banged his elbow on the floor which consequently balooned up to a size of a baseball and looked super nasty for a while. In this league great players play through injuries, and Harden and Goran are both doing that.
You have to realize that Harden is 3 years younger. Things like team play and defense can and will improve over time for Harden.
I really hope so. It seems like handing him the keys to the franchise at such a young age messed up his head a bit. Dragic was relegated to bench for most of his career; he became a regular starter once Lowry went down with an illness, but prior to that he had been in NBA for 4 seasons if my memory serves me well.
Money is a good point but Goran always said Phoenix has a special place in his heart and Steve Nash his master was a Phoenix Sun most games in his career. Let us be honest. McHale isn't so good with guards.
Goran told the F.O he wanted to stay here. I don't know where you are getting that. Obviously he's going to say that once he has already signed with the suns, but while he was here he wanted to stay.
