This was the original deal that I alluded to back in December. It was because of Asik's and Lin's contracts both together, coming up with $30 million next year to pay both guys. Looks like possibly Morey's gonna throw enough picks in to make it work......and take back more expiring salary as well.

I would still pick Chris Paul in a fight.

If a trade is "imminent", why hasn't it already happened?

12,293 posts and so many green bars I feel like I'm looking at a St. Patrick's Parade and you ask a question like that? ;) :)

Because a trade won't happen until Feb. 19th at the earliest. Rare is the Rudy Gay in-season trade.

You'd lose your bet. Paul is a puss.

I've been calling for Rondo all season. If we score him with only giving up Asik and Lin then i will be thrilled

I'd take that bet, cut in CP3 for 10% and watch him take a dive (flop). Game, set, match.

Granted, some things get covered up in U.S sports, but I don't think it's really possible to just flat out lie about a situation and keep it behind closed doors the entire time.

The swelling apparently keeps coming back, indicating that something isn't quite right. That is how the body works, can't argue there.

The contusion is more than just a bruise and they have been known to be this annoying in the past.

It would be nice to be updated more often to keep suspicious minds at ease, but I doubt his just sitting out for no reason other than spitting the dummy.

    Asik won't be traded. It's 99.999% improbable

He may be back soon! :D
    http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...be-cleared-to-practice-in-7-10-days/#comments

'As the Rockets hit the two-month mark without Omer Asik, Rockets coach Kevin McHale said he has “kind of” been given notice that Asik might be cleared within seven to 10 days. Asik began on court active rehab last week, usually a sign that a player is seven to 10 days from practicing.

“Everything is not a definite,” McHale said. “We’re ‘hoping for’ is what I’m getting.”

“We really need Greg (Smith) or Omer to get back. They’re starting to do a little bit more. Both have been without a basketball in their hand, actual live playing for so long. We’re getting closer. We have to get everybody ready and let them get some games under their belt, let them get some game timing. ” - Jonathan Feigen

However, if it involves Boston taking on both balloon-payment contracts of Lin and Asik, then the other player(s) we take on to match salaries would have to include a bad contract.

If it's a contract not-great-to-have (Bass?), I guess we'd have to include a pick or two.

If it's a dog-doo contract (Wallace? at least he plays defense), then there'd be other considerations: pick-swaps?

Having an owner take on two balloon-payment contracts like that, though?

I would see a third team involved instead. And not necessarily involving Lin.

Hell, maybe not even involving Rondo.

I'm telling you, dude. The whole bruise / contusion thing might be true to a small degree that got pumped up to an entirely new truth.

"Just let him 'rehab' until we make the trade. I don't want him around the team anymore."

I can imagine Morey saying something like that.

I prefer Wallace to Bass because he's a good wing defender and does the little things that don't show up in the box score. Bass is horrible. All he does is shoot 15 footers and has no post game whatsoever. That said, I would take him if it meant acquiring Rondo. He would do wonders for D12.

Maybe DMO or a late first and that's cool. We aren't really giving up a lot in the grand scheme of things. I'd rather toss in picks then Jones. I doubt we'd be able to score a guy like that again in our draft position.

I'm good with keeping Lin here. He's playing good basketball but Asik has devalued himself so much (markert wise) that he's a much more logical toss in then Jones. Morey loves cap flexibility

Is Omer really that upset about losing his starting job...?
