Morey's made his mistakes (clearly), but this troll's "indisputable statistical proof" is one of the stupidest arguments against Morey I think I've on this site (and that's saying a lot).

 

Funny how people believe this when from 2011-now has EASILY been the most critical folks have been of Morey. Even the homers.

You would need to look into why those players were taken out of Rockets uniforms to know how wrong you are.

Take Dragic for example, who wanted a longer contract than Morey would offer him. Morey was searching for a star player and the Gog holding Houston randsom did not fit that bill at all.

 

The coach makes the difference here. If Hornecak be the coach of Rockets, Morey may not have made these trades.

 

True dat. Who Morey? Morey does not make any make no stinkin' mistakes, he is a god in Houston. It doesn't matter how many decades it takes to sniff an NBA championship under Morey, he is god's gift to the Rockets fans and that is all that matters.
NBA trophy? Nah, give us Morey and his stats, that is far better than that shiny trophy. This undeserved worship of the GM is truly one for the ages. I have followed the NBA since 1968 and I have never seen such blind obeisance to a GM. The closest one would be Krause with the Bulls but at least he had Jordan and six championships to brag about. Well whatever floats the boat of the Rockets fans here. But I want to experience the thrill of having the Rockets contend for the championship again but I have not expected anything close to it since the position of GM was given to a statistician rather than a truly basketball mind. Just my thoughts.

 

Ok since you think Morey hasn't been good.. Id love to know what you would've done differently? Transitioning from injury riddled Yao and tmac to getting 2 stars now without ever having to sit through a terrible team? Please, armchair GM, under the circumstances what would you have done differently to make us a championship contender??

First of all, I would stop making excuses. Name the excuse for Morey and I can assure you that they have all been posted here already in all the years that he has been with the Rockets. Secondly, it is obvious from my post that if I were the owner I would have hired a GM with a basketball mind and not a statistician or a math wiz as many here have described Morey. Thirdly, since I am not the owner and, just like everybody else, I am just an opinionated poster here, I would leave it to the better judgment of the Rockets' front office to find the right GM for this team. So there, I spent a lot of time answering your question already.
