    Non-factor player making a non-factor quote. Sweet.

Not just flashy ball handlers, everyone does it. I'd say at this point it's probably an irrelevant discussion point (sorry old timers) because every player does it and knows that it will not be called.

The NBA, where traveling and carrying happen.

Most NBA players have 2 balls to carry, Nene.

Allow me to make a semantic distinction

Palming happens and shouldn't be called unless the player gains an advantage doing it.
Carrying is the word for when the player gains an advantage from palming the ball. This should be called.

In other words, carrying means you hand is under the ball and unfairly guiding it in a way you couldn't do otherwise. Like an illegal crossover

Stockton and Magic palmed the ball on nearly every dribble, but it never bothered me unless they took advantage of the defender in some type if move that they couldn't achieve without palming

Anyhoot. That's my distinction. Call carrying only when the offensive unfairly uses it. And let's please not call every cross over a carry

I dont really care about this call. All it does is stop the flow of the game. People naturally do that when dribbling. You almost can't help it. There are enough interruptions as it is.

For a Rockets fan this is doubly frustrating since we also have to put up with numerous hack-a-dwight trips to the free throw line. Why can't the refs call technical fouls on the coach calling for those intentional fouls over and over? It would put a stop to that real fast.

This is called "managing the game" and there are many coaches that don't like it, and it's what the NBA has desperately been trying to get rid of.

It's "natural" and "can't help it" because of the way they call it. If you watch the old film (e.g. the Wilt video), you'll notice how the old timers dribble. No, it's not because they didn't know how to dribble better. It's because they called carrying much stricter back then.

If you call something consistently, players will adjust. I don't really care either way just as long as they are consistent. If they decided to change the rule to let players go 4 steps after gathering the ball, that'd be fine with me. But call it consistently.

While everyone does it, it's particularly egregious in Durant's case because his stride is so damn long.

^^ yupyup...if Refs actually call travel or carrying the ball like they did in the preseason players will have to adjust. Late 90s and Allen Iverson changed the way players handled the ball. Kobe Bryants carries throughout his career...and Houston's own Steve Francis.

Players getting smarter pushing/testing the limits of the game and the refs....look at flopping for example.

NBA where frustrations happens to basketball purists. :(
