Earl Thomas is a solid player but extremely overrated. Safety is not a high impact position. You don't see many safeties getting drafted early - because they're not as important as QB's, WR's, T's, DT's, DE's, CB's, etc... Safeties do not get paid as much as disruptive lineman or CB's - because they're not as important.
And I would say that it's fine that you have your own opinion, but there isnt one general manager in the history of football that would agree with you. DE is arguably the most valuable position on the defensive side of the ball. There is a reason why a player like Mario Williams gets paid 100 million...while Eric Weddle gets a 5 year, 40 million dollar deal. Look at the franchise tag values from last season...the highest is QB at 14 million, followed by DE at 11.2 million. That's basically saying that teams value DE more so than any position other than QB. Safety is the 3rd lowest paid position...barely ahead of TEs...and kicker/punter is last, obviously. In other words, if you're building a team, it's best to leave safety as one of the last positions you worry about.
The Texans were 2-14 with JJ Watt and supposedly a pretty talented team. The Colts were 10-6 and got to the 2nd round with Andrew Luck and supposedly a mediocre team. I don't know how high I am on Andrew Luck, but it's definitely higher than JJ Watt... by quite a bit to be honest.
I was gonna ignore your post after this first comment...but then you continued with your idiocy with your second comment. Luckily there are smart folks on this board that called you out on your post...
I would trade Watt for Brady and that's it. Only because Bill O'Brien was very successful with Brady and took them to a Superbowl with Brady and O'Brien running that offense. I wouldnt trade Watt for a one on one strait up trade for any other defensive player.
I think draft pick are overrated. I mean the rams got so much for rg3 and they were 7-9 and I bet they aren't any good next year either. Also JJ watt is overrated. In the NFL unless you are a QB any one players impact on the Team is very small. That is why we went for 12-4 to 2-14 after matt started sucking.
I know you're just BS'n, but it would be just our luck that the team we would trade him to becomes a playoff team and those picks end up at the back of the draft...
I'll take that bet. How much? QB's are the most impactful players on the team, but the quality of your defense dictates what kind of impact that will be.
Yup, remind me again the impact that the QB having arguably the greatest season by a QB ever had on the Seattle Seahawks?
Nope, but we can set ourselves up to build one just as dominant if we draft the right guys. Picking Clowney first overall would be a nice step in that direction.
nah, no, nope, negative, negatory, hell no, not, never, any more ways to say no? I wouldnt trade watt for any player in the nfl. i wouldnt take your entire list along with a 1st and 2nd. the closest i get is some unreal scenario of landing rodgers and picks. Watt is a transcending player, he is redifining what a lineman does. He had one of the most dominant defensive seasons EVER, if not the greatest.
