I'm "offending" Lin's achievement. I'm just never impressed by any triple double. I don't understand why people get so worked up about it.

Any time Lin randomly gets 10 rebounds and plays good minutes he'll have a shot at getting a triple double.

The same is true for any decently sized PG like Jason Kidd.

Uh oh here comes the LOH. Don't think Lin's stat padder whereas Kidd has been known to pad stats when he was competing with Grant Hill for stats.

And scoring a triple double is no easy feat, it's like accounting for a third of the team's overall productivity.

im glad everyone is happy for jlin for the 3d, and i was too.

i like the fact the team pulled together to hook him up with the 3d.

but i was also smug about how they used pick and roll to get him the last assist.

they all knew it was the most reliable to score, using the pick and roll and feeding dwight. everyone knew it was going to work. no one was surprised when it went in.

    ....

yet they wont do this as their bread and butter.

I don't think it's that hard to do for certain players when they play hundreds of games. It's just going to happen every once in a while.

If Kidd never padded stats or was aware of what a triple double was, he would still get a lot. A point guard with decent size can get a triple double without trying whenver they get their 10 rebounds.

Kidd, Nash, Hinrich, Rubio, Lowry, Calderon, Jrue Holiday. These types of players will simply get triple doubles.

If there's any stat that impresses me, it's probably the 5x5 or the 30 point, 25 rebound games.

A triple double isn't easy, because Lin is not a double-digit rebounder in an average game. But, whenever he gets lucky and gets his 10 rebounds, he'll have a chance at a triple double.

But is it IMPRESSIVE if he gets his lucky 10 rebounds?

There are a million ways Lin can impress me more. And he's definitely already impressed me more in other games. If he gets 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists the next game? Big Deal. Really. A point guard's rebounds is as much a Team overall stat as it is an individual stat.

If this was truly the case, then why is it we don't see triple-doubles every other night, seeing as there are plenty of PG's in this league that are Jeremy's height (6'3 and over)? In actuality, triple doubles occur on average, according to statistics, roughly once every 36 games. Add to it the fact that Lin did it off the bench as well as it being his first ever does make this an accomplishment worth celebrating. Plus I believe Lin fans do take extra pleasure in rubbing this in the faces of the LOH's on this board...which makes it even more enjoyable. ;)

Well, if you're a PG, then you first have to randomly get 10 rebounds. Then after that, you have to a play a decent game on top of that. So, it's not like a PG goes out every game thinking, "Let me try to get 10 rebounds from the start." It's not like a PG goes out and tells his Center "Let me have the easy rebounds." So, no, it's not a common thing. It's just not IMPRESSIVE.

You know what impresses me? Good plays impress me. Good decision making. Not point guards like Lin or Nash or Rubio or Paul that have a game where they happen to make at least 10 rebounds.

    15 Points, 10 assists, 11 rebounds
    15 Points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds
    18 Points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds
    22 Points, 5 assists, 12 rebounds

None of these would impress me in terms of just the numbers in a single game. They are almost the same to me. Don't get me wrong, they are Solid stats to have. But does it really impress you more than say a 38 point game in terms of how impressive the numbers themselves can be?
