Good to finally hear an interview from him - listen to him speak. He has "a lot of positives" to consider. Personality wise he looks to be a McNair pick as compared to Clowney. A lot of time left to evaluate them both but so far he stands out.
I guess speed matters. But it kind of doesn't. I don't see Bridgewater running in the NFL regardless of what his speed is. Look at Tannehill, he ran as well as Wilson and has half the yardage to show for it. Manziel can run a 4.6, he's still a better runner and more elusive than any other QB available in this draft. Now does running ability even matter that much? That's a different story.
4.4/4.5? Why can't he shut his mouth and let his combine numbers do the talking???? Get off the radio Ted and get back to working out!
He was asked a specific question about running and then a direct question about his time. And after listening again he never said 4.4. He repeated 4.5 and somehow I heard it as 4.4. My bad not Teddy's. By the way that 40 yard dash speed is mostly irrelevant for a quarterback. When is he running straight downfield. I think as long as you run under 5 you're okay.
Manziel is definitely a better runner but Bridgewater is not to shabby irregardless of what their times show. Bridgewater was just answering a question how they prepare you to run for the combines. And what he has learned to improve his speed and specifically the time he will run. I suspect Manziel is not sitting on his butt before the combines either.
This is what I'm hoping for, to be honest. Although, I will be happy with him or Manziel. I think I'll be slightly less happy with Manziel, though. I'd be disappointed with Clowney. I'd be thrilled with a trade down and any of the above.
At 215-22o and refined lower body mechanics, do no be surprised at all if he is putting the ball down field with RG3 level velocity
Yea im not worried about Clown3y.. He's just not that good. All hype. If we do not draft Bridgewater, he will 100% be in Jax unless someone trades up w stl to snag him. Khan said today that his team will select a qb @ 1.3. If teddy is in jax.. We are royally screwed. The texans simply cannot mess this up. I always worry about mcnair's football decision making, but this pick is too obvious to F up. Teddy will lock it up with a lights out combine & pro day. Teddy is so clutch, so i have no doubt that he will thrive in his auditions. #GUMP
No question, but I don't think that's very likely, if he puts on the 20-25 pounds to come in around that weight, he won't be running a 4.5 I think he probably comes in around 200 and runs around a 4.6 or 4.7
Depends how he puts it on and how he trains. In a alot cases, mass gain especially muscle gain in the lower body and core will increase spring times Also increase throwing power as well.
If he comes in at 215-220 and runs a 4.5 No doubt will have increased his arm strength and velocity as well... Would behoove us to pick him, if he goes to the jags. We will regret it...
If Texans pass on teddy it will set the franchise back 5+ years. He is a rare combination of GUMP (Great. Under. Major. Pressure) & Football Talent. He's a great kid as well who loves his mom & loves football... We need him, we deserve him.. Can't F this up.
It's a 40. If he adds weight and strength especially to his upper body like sprinters do he could improve his takeoff/time.
