I know that, but he was at Japan for a while before returning to WWE lol. Just felt that gif fit perfectly with the"comedy jobbers" comment
It's kind of amazing to think that Tensai pinned John Cena in a singles match when he first came back. I really would like to get in the head of someone that thought "Let's bring back the guy best known for having ridiculous body hair and give him an Asian gimmick, I bet that will get over!"
It's probably the same guy who thought, "Hey, Haku's kid is on the roster, let's give him a stereotypical Mexican gimmick." Tensai's Wikipedia page says he majored in sign language in college and was a teacher for deaf children for a couple years before entering wrestling. Interesting. He now does some commentary work for them and I think he is pretty good.
close, its kind of like the godfather but he uses Ernest Millers music... oh and he is a funkasaurus not a pimp lol
I like the worker Brodus Clay, but damn i hate that gimmick. He looked like a damn good muscle for Del Rio when he made his debut debut. Then he went away, and got repackaged as that dancing idiot, stealing Ernest the Cat Miller's music.
One the topic of races you know what grinds my gears, that the wwe supported Martin Luther king day a couple of weeks who, saying they try to follow the teachings of him. But when you look at who has won titles in that company only 2 black wrestlers have won the world heavyweight championship (booker T and mark Henry) and 0 black wrestlers have owned the top belt in the company EVER IN THE ENTIRE WRESTLING TIME OVER 40 years there has been 0. And now you see Vince thinks all these black wrestlers are all the same giving them some steroytype rapping, dancing, gimmick of a character. ITS BS Note I'm not black, but when you look at other sports in world including the likes of Olympics, nba, nfl, soccer all of those sports have top people who are black except the racist Vincent K McMahon
1. WWE is not a "sport." It's really more about casting a soap opera with fake fighting. And TV dramas and sitcoms in America can be pretty damn white. 2. The WWE seems to think that white wrestlers are more marketable. Perhaps the data (merch sales and what not) even support this perception. But I think a part of this is caused by the WWE not doing a good enough job writing stories and roles for the non-white wrestlers. Kind of a chicken and egg question but I really think they ought to make an effort to build a popular top black wrestler. Or at least give black wrestlers (and Asian wrestlers, too) non-stereotypical gimmicks of they want to expand their appeal. 3. Does the Rock count as black? He is half black and half Samoan-- and was a member of the Nation of Domination, no? 4. They are a little bit better in some respects. At least Roman Reigns and the Usos don't have to be "Wild Samoan" savages. But the stuff can still be pretty damn racist.
Nah rock never speaks about being partially black, he only recognises being Samoan, roman reigns the same, I just don't understand how they can't hook a black wrestler correctly in the last 40 years to be the top star at any point in time
I kind of agree with you, there definitely should be more black Champions. and I think the roots of that come from them, like you said, getting gimmicks based on racial stereotypes. They get the rapper (R-Truth), The Criminals (Cryme Tyme), The Pimps and so on... and I really really like R-Truth, and I loved Cryme Tyme, but black guys won't be the face of the WWE with a gimmick like that. I look at guys like Shelton Benjamin, who was the first wrestler i remember loving just because of his in ring work, and i wish he would of had the chance to have a serious push. but he will mostly be remembered for that storyline about his "Mama". I see guys like Mark Henry who is a beast and always in shape and a hell of a worker and I don't see why they don't promote him like he is the greatest Super Heavyweight of All-Time (he is 10X's a better wrestler than Andre) but he gets little story lines based mainly around comedy and then gets squashed by Brock to set up the Big Show. But my biggest complaint ever about race was with what they did with Eddie Guerrero, the "Lie, Cheat and Steal" stuff was garbage and it makes me mad when I watch old Eddie matches and see him doing that.
Basically if your not In the breckfest club then your not going to get a fair push, and if your black then don't even try and join the club because it's 100% white only ATM. If you try and rebel sure the crowd will love you but you will as much as you try and change the culture of the business of wwe end up like punk
Just because no pure black men have been the champion doesn't mean it's been white people only. The Rock, Yokozuna, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio, Batista, Pedro Morales way back in the day. Booker T and Mark Henry did win the WHC, when it was still a big deal during the brand extension. Having said that the company clearly does skew white at the top, but thats right in line with most things in America. Vince McMahon is a carnival barker, he'll do whatever he thinks will make him money, regardless of class, or political correctness.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/W9rPklPc9xE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> if you want a good video on the topic, this guy while may come across arrogant is actually really smart on wwe
Though Vince tends to make black folks comedy acts, if the wrestler has a certain look and charisma, he'd stop at nothing to shoot them to the top. Of course they have to be big and muscular. Example: He had a large hard-on for Ahmed Johnson and looked to give him a major push for the World Title, but injuries hampered his career. Then Bobby Lashley was taking that Ahmed Johnson-esque megapush but he didn't have the charisma or mic skills to back it up. Shelton Benjamin had big potential but same thing with him. If the guy is the total package (not Lex Luger, but looks, ring work, charisma/mic skills) then no doubt he'd get the megapush and be world champion. WWE just hasn't had that wrestler yet when it comes to Black wrestlers or any ethnicity at the moment.
^^ this is total crap, are you telling me wwe has never had a black wrestler who has all the qualities a randy orten or John cena has. Pathetic by Vince and he knows it but doesn't care, I don't know if I should call it racism but everyone knows the un fair bias to whites Btw the company has been going for 40 bloody years, and your telling me their has never been the right black wrestler.
How is it crap? It's sad but true. Booker T is another guy who couldve fit the mold but I think Vince wanted a homegrown guy, someone he "created." Booker was a product of WCW. Booker got a world title run as "King Booker" but he never was the poster boy, ever. Ahmed, Lashley, Shelton were his homegrown pet projects but for the reasons I stated above, they didn't pan out. No one has come close since. Mark Henry- Been in the company since 96 but needed a lot of polishing, never made him a main guy or a big deal until 2010 or so. Ezekiel Jackson was possible the latest one to get the "affirmative action" push but again he didnt have the total package. Sucked on the mic, musclebound injury-prone clod in the ring. It's not like Vince isn't trying. They just have to fit his mold. Black, White, Brown, Yellow they have to big 6'5 or something and be jacked up.
