[ClutchFans] The numbers are clear: Patrick Beverley deserves to start over Jeremy Lin

I'm a LOF and the starting role issue is quite simple to me. If Bev fits the system better, just trade Lin. To LOF, we would like to see more Lin. And to the Rockets, there's no reason to keep a 8m player on bench.

If trading Lin and Asik can potentially get Rondo and puts everyone in a position to success, then do it. Rocket fans and LOF will both be happy. I would like to see whether the Rondo+Harden combo can succeed.

 

The numbers are clear- look at the same stats Clutch uses to say Bev deserves to start. They show Lin is way better in the 4th.

 

At first I didn't think much of this video particularly this guy's accent (to be fair English is probably not his first language, maybe his third) but you're right, he does sound very convincing and did a good job of it. At least, he managed to convince me that Harden maybe does play better with Bev but that doesn't mean that the rest of the team will play better.

Did anyone notice how awesome bev was at the 3rd Q? 2 silly mistakes that count as 2 unforced errors. Backcourt violations, my goodness those turnovers are cardinal sins for PG.

At the closing 4th Q, Bevy got careless defending harris, i think, at the 3 pt line, then bang! Foul n 3 freebies. Thanks to him the mavs got close to rockets n hv a chance to win the game.

Dude, posts like this don't exactly help put Lin or his fans in a good light. There is no need to **** on Bev like that. Mistakes happen.

We won tonight and both Bev and Lin were solid for us.

While I think Lin should start I don't think there is a need to gloat and put up posts like this.

I suppose as long as the coaching staff believes that Beverley deserves to start over Lin then this thread remains valid. It at least represents Sampson's point of view. It just isn't backed up by the stats. Harden has had his best scoring games this year with Lin as his backcourt partner. In November, Lin's performance masked adjustment issues in the starting rotation. Beverley is not a good or smart defensive player. He has been beaten routinely off the dribble and looks lost out there if he isn't gambling. McHale has taken to hiding Beverley on defense against aggressive PGs by putting Lin on them. Lin is bigger, can hold his ground better and will attack that PG on the other end. Offensively, Beverley is starting to show improvement as a spot up 3 pt shooter but is not a go to playmaker or scorer. Harden may prefer Beverley because he wants to dominate the ball. Iso ball has its merits and defenders but it also has its drawbacks as many on this site have noted.

No matter how many mistakes Bev made, people want anything but Lin.

Only reason why I think Lin should start is other teams don't give him respect. They focus on the two superstars( Harden and Howard) and because they think Lin isn't really good they get burned by him when he's aggressive. It's the Rockets secret. Other teams really don't know Lin can play.

 

lol wtf basketball are you watching. teams double Lin because they experienced lin going off on them in the previous year. Lin has been scouted

 

Beverley played ok. He gave us that 3 pointer when we needed it. He will be fine.
