What famous coach got kicked off his high school team when he called a timeout and the coach felt shown up, so told him the player shouldn't act like he knows more than the coach, and the player said, but I do know more about basketball than you. hehe
sweet. at first i thought danny ainge but you said famous coach. then i was like who is arrogant enough to say this.
the circumstance was that he was the team captain and leading scorer, and his original coach left at the start of his sr year, and the new guy sucked...more of a recreational sport guy who thought everyone should get a chance to play. btw: Knight was good enough to play for one of the best NCAA teams ever.
actually, i'm hearing the stories from someone who read it. bar talk. I knew a little about his playing days, but not much. I want to get the book ever since seeing the Charlie Rose interview. Knight seems to like it, and Charlie did, too. He talks a lot about the coaches who influenced him the most. rH, I've used this on the bbs last year, but it is my favorite Bobby Knight one, so I'll repeat. Don't say it if you know it. 1. What PG did Bobby Knight say ran his offense the best? 2. another....a Celtic HOFer said this about what HOF NCAA coach for whom he won a title..."He wanted us all to hate him, and he succeeded."
I got two...pretty easy to look up, so let's see if anybody can get these without any help. 1) The night Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in a game, what notable song played on the PA system during warmups? 2) How many 3 pointers were made in the highest scoring game in NBA history, a 186-184 triple OT victory by the Pistons vs. the Nuggets on 12/13/83?
so, we aren't allowed to look yours up..., but you get take a my *remembered* quote and place it into a search engine...'eh. OK, i see how it is. I didn't know #1. #2 I will guess zero. More trivia...try to search for this -- again, this is from memory...I'm not sure this is the only answer...but I bet it is What two high school players faced off in their State Championship game and later were taken #1 and #2 in the NBA Draft...and who won the game.
Of course, you're the all knowing basketball god, so you don't need to look anything up! Don't you know that I knew Jack Ramsey personally? I was at a bar with him right after he said that and told him what an a-hole Rupp was. #1 was kind of tough...It was "By the River" sung by none other than The Stilt himself.... #2: Two three pointers were made during that entire game. I'm not sure how many were attempted, but I'm certain it was less than 5...amazing that teams can't get to 100 these days with 20 three point attempts...Here are the score cards from the game... http://www.nba.com/history/highest_scoring_game_021107.html
thought this thread seemed the appropriate place to say HeyP your laugh sounds like Tom Tolberts little Hee-hee laugh.
