1. Memphis is really good 2. Every contender has been exposed it's normal it's healthy what makes a team a contender is what they do after they been exposed. 3. The Rockets problem is they need to be sharper and play sharper. The rockets will have the second half of the season to work on that before the playoffs.
McHale is one of the more unconventional coaches I have watched. He should definitely get credit for thinking outside the box. Who said he cant make adjustments on the fly? Not many coaches will try to defend Zach Randolf for the whole quarter using guards, although, granted that James Harden is a defensive juggernaut. Or how about the remake of Lord of the Rings in the fourth quarter? Hobbits be running everywhere on the court!
How aren't they the same level of those teams? They have beaten the Spurs twice (and in both games been up on them by a large margin) and 2-1 against the Blazers...then will go on to lose to the Jazz or whoever. You sound like McHale, always putting the blame on the players and never himself.
I've been a supporter of McHale's for a long time now, but I am starting agree that he is simply not that good of a coach...
The guy just hammered on the obvious. Excuse me coach, but we never knew they scored more points.
I wasn't able to watch tonight's game. But I've made up my mind on McHale. I used to be a huge McHale apologist, giving him all the credit possible and downplaying his faults. But he's just a mediocre coach, simple as that. The Rockets have literally not gotten any better from the 1st game of the season. They were inconsistent and sloppy during the beginning of the season, and I figured as the players meshed and understood the system better, things would tighten up. But the sloppiness and inconsistency is simply a product of McHale's system. We will win games, heck, even games against better teams, but make no mistake, this team won't get past the first round with McHale. He has to go at the end of the season.
Making a-few little statements and clapping their hands together does not make anyone a good motivator. I can even do it, look: Come on guys (clap clap) hustle guys, hustle (clap clap) i want more energy guys (clap clap) where's my pizza rolls (clap clap)? even with a pg like cp3, clippers still brought in Rivers. Having the right coach, is so vital to a championship team.
Rick Carlisle is a guy I would like as coach (won't happen) and he has bad losses with a veteran team. Most likely to Rockets would have to replace Mchale with an unproven assistant coach. More of Memphis played playoff basketball and the rockets didn't. It's a wakeup call before the playoffs.
