Beverley has not really fared well with more minutes. In November, Lin was filling all the gaps, shooting well and threatening defenses. When Lin was out, Bev struggled as a starter on both ends of the floor. When Lin took over in Bev's absence, Lin had a number of good games, played a lot of minutes, and the team had a winning record. Against Memphis and Sac, Bev looked overmatched. The Rockets have so much talent in Harden, Howard, Parsons and Jones that they can collectively mask these limitations but not against good teams and certainly not in the 10 deep western conference.

Off the top of my head....What about what he did against the spurs in the playoffs? He also had his career high against okc and I remember a great game against miami too.

Let's face it. This game can be a typical game during the playoffs. Defense will be so tight and our 2 stars will be guarded so heavily that they may end up like tonight. You need to depend on other players to contribute on offense when the big 2 are not effective. Lin will be useless if his confidence level is so low like now as a backup. He will be tentative and playing scared. Bev will be his usual self, pesky in defense and very questionable on offense. That leaves only Parson and a young TJ to contribute. TJ himself can't create his own shots. Parsons is better but still not not elite in creating his own shot. So this team will be likely exiting fast in the playoff round the way it is constituted. I say Morey should trade Asik & Lin fast for a 3rd star, hopefully an offensive threat pg like Eric Gordon or playmaking wiz Rondo. If this is not possible, Houston may just have to pray hard that Lin can become some offensive option contributing 20/8 or so. Only a confident Lin can do that and as long as he is a backup, that is not likely to happen. And no one in Houston wants him to play up to his strength. So forget about contending this season with the current players, especially with the current coaches.

I really hope you're not setting expectation on Lin to be 20/8 when he is the 6th options on the team coming off the bench going 9~10 FGA per game. That means he has to shoot like what....80% FG%????

Damn McFail. It should be DH and Lin Pick-n-Roll with Parsons parking downtown for 3!

    You are absolutely delusional.

It doesn't matter how much you whine, Patrick Beverley is the starter this season because a) the starting unit plays better with him as opposed to Lin and b) Lin can be utilized more as a scorer/creator with the second unit.

    Sorry man

Just curious and don't want to start a new thread on it. But if we were in a 7-game series with Memphis starting tomorrow....who thinks we win the series and which of you think we would lose the series?

lose in 5 or 6 if Bev jacks up 10+ shots a game.

For those people who are predicting gloom and doom, the Rockets were missing *four* reserves tonight, include the two top backup big men against the biggest team in the league. The Grizzlies are a bad matchup, but it's not like we will meet them in the playoffs anyway.

Thank you - In all this useless PG debate and McHale bashing (deserved as it may be) the fact that down the stretch our interior/help D was awful - I mean really bad - there was a stretch of multiple easy dunks and layups for Memphis in the final 3-5 minutes or so.

You cannot blame a loss because someone had his foot on the line, that was a poor play and a complete team loss if it went to the wire.

    Lol you're seeing that too?

Anyway, good shooting night by Parsons but the numbers from our players are pretty bad

    - our 2 so-called All-stars combining for 21 points
    - 8 for 32 shooting between Howard, Harden and Bev
    - Harden on 2-11 shooting
    - Bev on 1-11 shooting (8 3 point attempts, dude should not be shooting)

I'm a bit hard on Bev and Harden but this was what I was expecting. Harden was well guarded and taken out of the game, was supposed to set up our inside guys but didn't really make anyone better despite the assists.

Bev tried I guess, still don't understand why he's starting.

Lastly, you already know how I feel about the coaching lol

It is 4/6 against 1/11 in Lin's favor and he is benched with Bev taking the last shot. What's so wrong about Lin that McHale just dished him at will, even when he is obviously more efficient than Bev in scoring tonight? Don't care if he likes Lin or hates Lin, as a coach you have got to go with the hotter hand to win a winnable game. SMH.

not only McHale. It's been evident that Sampson favors Bev as well.

Memphis has a better starting lineup, better defense, experience and probably better coaches. Joerger sounds like a player's coach having won a couple of things before. I have no confidence in our team to close out games when it's close and coach is forced to draw plays.

That is why I suggest to trade Lin and/or Asik for Eric Gordon. He can score 30+ a game often. Let Harden play PG and Gordon SG.

But the Thunder, Spurs, and Clips didn't. And neither did the Blazers last night. The teams we're all chasing gained a game on us.

100% agree with this. If not Gordon, then someone like Luol Deng.
