I don't think you realize how stacked we are.

We have the best SG and Center in the game. Traditionally those are the two spots where its hardest to find really good players. On any given night these two positions will outperform the opposition.

We have 2 PGs who are capable of at least matching the opposition. In a league with TP, CP3, Steph Curry, this is no easy task. But I think so far this season its been very rare that the opposing PG has dominated ours.

We have a SF who can do a little bit of everything and can win games based on looks alone. :p

And finally, our biggest worry at the start of the year was PF and TJones and Dmo has done admirably.

Thats a lot of talent on the team and I get the feeling we win despite McHale, not with McHale. I'm sure most of you who have seen the broken plays and end game isos agree with me.

Inflated stats due to how awful the East is this year.

But, we are better WITH Asik than we are with DWIGHT?

The West is also better. The talent level is the same during the two eras, but the talent has shifted to the West and since we play more of our games in the West anyway it balances out.

Wouldn't the stats be deflated because the Rockets are in the West?

    7-8.

To put it in perspective, here are all of the Western Conference Playoff teams records against each other:

    Thunder: 11-4

    Portland: 9-6

    Clippers: 7-5

    Suns: 6-6

    Spurs: 7-8

    Mavericks: 5-9

    Warriors: 4-10

So the Thunder is the only team really dominating the competition.

This is an interesting thread. Beating playoff teams in the regular season, is different from winning in the playoffs.

Any other coach would have the same talent anyway. Same result.

Sure but we have an awful bench. Awfully inconsistent anyway.

I'm not sure where these lofty expectations come from, maybe if the Rox had a track record like the Lakers or Spurs then sure you can set a high standard. But the Rox haven't been relevant in YEARS, even when we had Yao and Tmac nobody took us seriously because the supporting cast consisted of Skip to my Lou and old man Juwon Howard.

Why not just enjoy the ride? The Rox has the league's best C, a top 2 SG and are still one of the youngest teams in the league. Considering how deep the lottery is, I'd actually be happy even if the Rox actually burned out and missed the playoffs this year.

I know what you're saying, but with our talent level, can you imagine how obvious it would be that we were throwing games to go into tankapotamus mode?

Or do you mean getting a lottery pick in a trade, cuz that's probably even less likely than tanking this year.

Coaching has a lot to do with winning, or at least the playing culture that we have as a team.

Look at memphis and denver this year. That's a big clue right there.

If you looked at those teams, you'd realize how they basically refute your own argument.

Best record in 17 years, but still the 5th in the west conference.

It tells how bad we are in the past 17 years.

Ugh. I know we can't overtake them because of the division leader thingy but I was thinking it would be nice to boast a better record than the Clips soon - then I looked at their schedule - holy shnikes, could their upcoming schedule get ANY easier, I mean, REALLY?
In their next 9 games, 7 of them are against teams at .500 or worse (I'm including Toronto as they are 20-21 and kinda suck) - oh well.
