Don't know if I'd agree with some of the films being listed. T2 has plenty of action but I consider it a sci-fi and one of my favorites. Saving Private Ryan I'd put in the war film category. Lethal Weapon action-comedy. A lot of dramas being listed too. Just my opinion though.

My top ten in no particular order would be:

    1) Die Hard
    2) The Rock
    3) Face/Off
    4) Hard Boiled
    5) The Raid
    6) Speed
    7) Under Siege
    8) True Lies
    9) Con Air
    10) Fast Five

    In no particular order.

    Aliens
    Predator
Enter The Dragon (I'd pay 100 bucks to see it a theater)
Kelly's Heroes (I'd pay 100 bucks to see it in a theater)
    Big Trouble
The Thing (best action/horror film ever, "prequel" sucks)
True Lies (Arnold's last great movie)
Rob Roy (best sword duel ever)
Last of The Mohicans (best soundtrack ever)
    The Road Warrior

besides the matrix that is all 80's they sure knew how to do action then.

As much as I like the avengers there is just something missing these days. Hard to explain.

Comic book super heroes are metro sexual emo types, real action heroes experience only five emotional states, hate, disgust, rage, over confidence, and sadness.

My personal favorites (alphabetical order because I don't feel like ranking them):

    Akira
    Aliens
    Die Hard
    Ghost in the Shell
    Kill Bill Vol. 1
    (better action than Vol. 2)
Kill Bill Vol. 2 (better film than Vol. 1)
    Matrix
    Ninja Scroll
    Terminator 2
    Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

Four anime films in there. All action movie gold.

    1. T2: Judgment Day
    2. Supercop (aka Police Story III: Supercop) - In my opinion, Jackie Chan's best complete action movie.
    3. Predator
    4. Die Hard
    5. Lethal Weapon
    6. Kill Bill: vol. 1
    7. True Lies
    8. Under Siege
    9. James Bond: License to Kill (The only bond movie I ever took to.)
    10. Eraser

Am very glad to see some Road Warrior mentions in these lists. Younger members of our audience should give that a viewing sometime; just an amazing, crazy and imaginative movie in its specific violence.

Sad that most people I know only think of Beyond Thunderdome when they think of Mad Max....its a pretty good movie but stil the weakest of the three. Road Warrior is exceptional.

I like it because in the first one things are just starting to go to s*** but in Road Warrior they are now officially in shambles and I like how it portrays the struggle to survive and the lengths humans will go to when faced with an adapt or die situation.

    Anyway great post!

Thanks, BonziWellsGOAT (LOL @ handle). I was just watching some old clips on youtube, and aside from the excellent direction and creativity of the action sequences, there were so many little story lines and so many characters with arcs, even some of the weird bad guys had little stories to follow all through the movie.

This was, by the way, one of the first movies I saw on the big screen. Friend of mine and I snuck in, underage, to an R movie. Very exciting. (Or I remember it being "R" or something like that.)
