People do have their dogs ears cropped. so that they look "cute" because of how the ears hang down.

One of our dogs had that done by the previous owner.

one of the boxers my mom has was owned by some people who abused her before and they cropped her ears. but they don't look right its like they almost look like they were burned with how the scar tissue formed at the ends of the ear. she almost looks like a pit bull because they cut them so short. thats my little story. i have no clue how they did it though, but it had to be some ghetto way.

No, they put a cast mold around the ears to deaden them and then they use these special made snipps.

I dont understand why some peoples output /2 cents are solutions BEFORE the problem. I laid the problem flat out on the floor. And this is your response?

WEll its too late to worry about if it hurt or the what ifs, if they already did it.
Listen, those ears will get infected easy!
    and if they do...
Take the dogs to the vet.
    seriously.

Alot of people use scissors, not a joke - razors are fairly humane in comparison. A little novocain would be nice though don't ya think? They just recently started uses localized pain killers on a certain procedure for male babies----i'll stop there, but you know what i'm talking about. Oh and if you think that cutting the ears are bad think about the those cut bobbed tails...

Didn't mean to get too gross, but people do weird things sometimes that are to easily explained away.

No offense, boys, but my newborn had his circumcision when he was two days old.

You need to SERIOUSLY not worry about this.

amen, lets all stop holding each others wee-wees when we go to the tinkle room. Back in my day dogs were used as kinneling wood.

Thanks Moe: still remember that you were the one who figured out the ole "fatty fat fat" name the quickest.

To everyone else: You realize that circumcision is done without anesthesia, don't you? Do you recall getting a piece of your manhood cut-off?

    Didn't think so.

Do you want to call circumcision's inhumane?

Maybe so, but get used to having your child getting constant barbs about it (ie: we called our uncircumcised friend "The Burrito")

Not to mention how many infections that can happen if it is not done.

Look: sorry to burst y'all's bubble on life being bliss.... there are things that are done for the greater good. Get used to it.

I see it as we should treat them like children. Don't get a dog if you're going to mistreat it. They belong in the hands of someone who wants the best for them and make them feel loved.

I asked my friend Mr. Blonde and he said it was cool. He also offered to do it for free. He did request a gallon of gas for some reason...

Actually if you can afford it (Doctors probably charge 2 grand to put a little ambesol on it)they use a local anesthesia on the little fella's unit these days. My point was if we take can it in the most sensitive of places, a dog will not have any real trouble with his ears, tail, or the wonderful neutering procedure. Again though a little novocain would be a nice gesture when chopping and slicing off body parts of your pet.

    "The Burrito"
What did Elane say, "Its got more personality" :D

OK, obviously circumcision has medical benefits. Cropping a dog's ears has NO medical benefits. In fact it degrades their natural hearing. People do it B/C THEY THINK IT MAKES THE DOG LOOK BETTER! That's it.

    It's stupid.
