Cuttino seems to be around the middle of the pack shooting guard i.e rich mans Mad Maxx. If we trade him would we need a starter at that position in return or would a solid role player do ?
cat's market value, imho, is probably equal to one of two types of players: player #1: allan houston why? allan houston is an above average shooting guard, yes. and on the court, he is probably better than cat. however, his contract (which is ludicrous) makes him a bad $$ value player. player #2: bonzi wells why? bonzi, the player. not bonzi the idiot. let's get that straight right now. as a player, bonzi is very productive, but will never be a franchise type player. he's capable of multiple tasks, is a difficult cover, and can comfortably play 2 position. add on the fact that his contract (i believe) is not a bad one, and it sounds like you could just as well be describing cuttino mobley.
thanks a lot verse. Picturing Bonzi (the idiot, not the player) on this team just sent shivers through my spine.
I perceive that Cat is well enough regarded to be desired -- good player, good contract, good guy. Not demanded, after all, where were the 'greats' instead of the 'goods'? Therefore, wither Cat? Look to LA. IF Clips believe Cat = Odom, then his value to Clips becomes enhanced (Dre, or dreaming: EB). Other potential destinations for Mobley? Toronto (depending on Lotto, of course), NO, Chicago (if a big deal including Rose were envisioned).
si, si. As a player, I've liked Bonzi more than I like Cat for the past couple of years or so. Very versatile player. But his head is so ****ed up that I wouldn't ever want him on my team.
Cat would be especially valuable to Leastern Conference teams lacking firepower. He might be enticing to the Paper Clips if they want a low-paid buddy of Lamar Odom around to help convince Lamar to stay; but that could just be the Cat & Eddie for Elton Brand hallucinations talking.
His value in a trade is best when coupled in a package deal. His production comes relatively cheap, so package him with an over paid but still productive teammate, and land a superstar.
I've thought about Rose a couple of times since the end of the season. The guy wants to play the point and is big veteran guard. It sounds exactly like what we are looking for in a backcourt with Steve at the 2. Do you guys think that Rose/Francis would work/be markedly improved over last year?
for all the assets jalen rose has physically, rumor is he is one of the biggest assholes and malcontents in the nba. do you really want that on this team?
Whats wrong with Bonzi Wells? He is a great player and I love his game. If you want to talk about f****d up in the head its Ruben Patterson.
As a fan I don't want to be cussed out by a player on my team. Bonzi? Bozo. What is the advantage of dumping Cat and getting another 2? The backcourt needs to be rebuilt. It needs two new additions. A playmaker and a combo. Then SF easily flows between both backcourt slots. The frontcourt needs to be redesigned. It needs a 3 point 4 and a banger 4. The bench needs to be rebuilt. The man on the end of the bench needs to give real responsibilities to two NBA veteran/respected assistants. Finally, the Rox need to move into the East and get a very high seeding. I'll take my chances in the Finals.
The best trade idea I have heard is from Relativist: *Cat for *Shane Battier I would modify this trade putting EG in the mix. *Cat & ED for *Shane Battier & Swift
I'm not real crazy about getting rid of Mobley, and this idea has probably been brought up and knocked down several times without me seeing it, but why not trade Mobley straight up for Sam Cassell? We'd get the one we think we need, and the Bucks would get a good two to go alone with Payton...who still has several years in him.
