Don't even look at it as a 3 yr + 1 yr player option. Look at it as a 4 year option. Was Dragic worth signing for 4 years based on his potential? That's the question. What was the contract that Morey gave to Ariza based on potential? FIVE years. The player option was an excuse and a lame one at that. Dragic was worth a four year contract if Ariza was worth five.
When teams focus on Lin they can shut him down. Like when Lebron guarded him. When that happens I'd put Brooks at the 1, Lin at the 2 and let him play off the ball. The opponent would be trying to exploit a weakness and we counter by moving Lin around off the ball and having a player in Brooks that can shoot the 3 and initiate the offense.
i would think the problem with this though is that lin's a defensive liability at the 2 and brooks is in general a defensive liability anytime on the floor
With Canaan going back to Vipers, I don't think so. Brooks still has some game in him, but for no more than 10-12 min/game.
I can't wait until the day we run a 10 man rotation with... Bev/brooks Harden/Lin Parson/Garcia or casspi (if Garcia isn't contributing try casspi a few mins) Jones/dmo or smith(depending on matchup or 1 doesn't have it going that night) Dwight/Asik I hate injuries. I love how Greg pop runs his rotation.
While McHale may have driven home (including, sadly, Lin himself) the point that Lin is a nobody, it is a bad time to trade him. We're violating the first rule of trade: buy low sell high. This is just too bad a situation for the team. We have a $8 mil guy riding the pine, not able to contribute and hardly tradable. After one and a half season's schooling, Lin finally seems to know "who he is" (word for word by McHale in multiple occasions) now Linsanity is officially a fluke. He has no talent, no skills. He was just lucky. If people can win the powerball, a bench warmer can score 20+ ppg, 7+ apg too. Confidence be damned. I just hope he can win the lotter twice
I don't think any of that was a fluke. Lin is playing bad right now, even then he puts up 13/4 on limited usage. He isn't a no-talent scrub. Just a still-young point guard is somewhere between a solid-starter and a solid bench player.
there may be no more selling high anymore. you may have to take on a player with a bad contract in order to trade lin with his bad contract.
You can include cash in the trade, but there are annual limits. You can't just add any amount you want. I think Bima explained this in another thread. Can cash be included as part of a trade package?
But but but Bev has the LEGENDARY DEFENCE...I heard its #1 in the league from all the godly praises he gets.
he's played both the 1 & 2 this year and with how bad garcia has been playing lately, I don't see why we'd drop him or not play him.
If Garcia wasn't so terrible this season, I would be all for keeping AB glued on the bench until we need 3 pointers. Then, we can see how hot he is feeling. Unless his shot is falling though, AB has no business being on the court.
