Last night I was wondering how I could root for this team. I mean, it's so hard. Sometimes I feel like rooting against them. You know, when they play OKC, I wasn't sure if I should root for Durant to score or Lin to turn the ball over. I get confused. Which team is the right one? Those uniforms are so confusing. And isn't that Harden guy on OKC too? And then, I wonder when I see McHale, isn't he from the Boston Celtics? Wasn't it Scott Brook who played with Hakeem? It's so hard to root for this team.
I agree with some of your points, this team has definitely underachieved for the talent that they have. Harden needs to set the tone on defense, Dwight Howard can't block every shot. Blame Lin's inconsistency on Coach McHale, we all know the Rockets are better as a group with Lin coming off the bench. Unless Harden starts playing off the ball more and starts defending, Lin/Harden defensively is a joke. You honestly want Dwight to demand the ball? Why? Sure it works but Dwight definitely needs to either get over the pressure of making free throws (it's definitely in his head, not to do with as much with his shooting form). You're getting paid like a franchise player, make your free throws, thanks. And Garcia as far as I understand was really just a 3pt specialist. You can't really expect him to fill in what Parsons' role identically. Once Beverley comes back tonight, Lin will be able to do more of the ball handling so Garcia will be able to spot up and shoot more often (one would hope anyways).
As far as I know, Garcia will be out for quite some time. Not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion, since the most important "skill" he's been using in recent games was...FOULING A JUMPSHOOTER. I love Cisco's heart, but sometimes I question his BBIQ. He's probably done that 10 times...he needs some rest and then we can hope he will return to his playoff form
I think that's the problem -- not the lows after losses, but the lack of a high after wins. Maybe it's not the Rockets. It could be my age, or the fact I can't catch many games because of Comcast, or unreasonable expectations because of the Howard addition. Maybe because this team is supposed to be a contender, there aren't any real victories to be had in the regular season (except maybe long winning streaks, and we don't do those) and the highs will come from playoff victories. But right now, wins are expected and losses are failures. Rooting for a bubble team, you can feel good about moral victories and player development (though I am happy about Jones' development) regardless of the record.
Are we hard to root for right now? Is McHale bad at coaching? We get open looks all the time, if NBA players make them like they r paid to do, our philosophy of 3 and dunk is way ahead of the curve... Great to see Bev back!
The Rockets are hard to root for? Why not root for San Antonio or Dallas then? they might be a little easier to root for. Hell why not try Miami they won the last 2 championships they must be easy to root for.
I would say they are extremely hard to root for because I can't watch any games except the ones on National TV. CSN is ruining my fandom. I forget to watch online because my internet sucks and hate watching other teams broadcasts.
It is really easy to root for this team. The Rockets are my team so I root for them. But some of the times this team is just really hard to watch. But not tonight!
Lol. How sure are you it won't be hard to root for them come the game against the Kings? This team is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get.
At least the bolded points have progressed. I admit the title of this thread could be interpenetrated as me being a "bad fan" but all the points i mafe in January still ring true. With that said go Rockets!! If we get game 3 then anything can happen.
said it before and i'll say it again. if a team treats its fans like crap, the fans have no reason to watch. i dont watch all the games this season and no other fan should either. doesnt make you less of a fan makes you a smart fan.
