I think AB will get some minutes. He may not be in the rotation every night, but I think he'll play. If Bev or Lin are in foul trouble we can use AB. Also if we need some instant offense and Bev or Lin is struggling I can see McHale using AB. If McHale wanted to he could just let Lin be Harden's full time backup, and then just have AB and Bev get all the minutes at point guard. AB has proven he can play, so anything is possible.
I wasn't happy when Dragic signed with Phoenix. But, once I learned the "deal breaker" was the fourth year player option, I understood and accepted it a little better. I'm pretty sure if he'd accepted a three year offer, he'd still be our PG.
I would like to see AB involved in game's plan , it seem each time he is in the game with unclear assignment, he is the person McHale use it when he give up on others only.
I hope he gets some burn. I wouldn't mind him taking a few minutes from Lin, Bev, Harden and/or Garcia. Posted this elsewhere today, but I think he could be used as a heat check guy. If he's on from 3, give him a little run. If not, send him back to the bench.
When we signed Lin and Asik, the Rockets were in a rebuild mode, and figured to be out of it for a couple of years. Once we got Harden that all changed, and I am sure Morey wishes he kept Dragic, but be that as it may, it was the right move at the time. And yes, it is making them very difficult to trade, especially Lin. DD
How many players on the roster have EVER had a player option since Morey took over? He believes they are "franchise killers". No excuse. It's why Morey and Dragic's agent couldn't agree.
I think the PG spot should be up for grabs. Whoever is playing well that night should get more burn time. Lin should be pushed to the back up 2 spot so AB can get some playing time. If either of them gets hot, they get to close the game.
The player option is definitely a deal breaker for teams as they lose both ways - a player does well, he will exit if given a better offer, the team loses; if player does crap, no one wants him he will elect to stay, team loses. If your org has such a policy, then Morey cannot offer it to Dragic because then the next guy will ask for the same. So he hs to decline for the overall benefit. Poisin pill, if Houston really wanted to then can kick in $6m in cash since they got $6m benefit from first two years of the contracts. People always forget cash can also be includeed in any trade.
i rather have lin playing for another coach, like lowry did. rockets can have BEV and AB who just can feed the ball to Harden every nights and have him run the offense, ISO or not, which is what Mchale wants.
Stop whining u p***y , if we are trading for another PG it's not going to be tragic , he is too bloody expensive for his skills. We would get a better upgrade.
I agree that Lin will be traded. Bev will continue to prove he's not a starter. I hope we get someone back from the Lin & Asik trades that is starter material.
??? Who's talking about trading for him (or whining), tough guy? Try reading so you understand what's being said.
I doubt that AB will be getting the 15-25 minutes a game he's gotten the last several games, but he's our best from behind the arc, and is one of the best from the charity stripe. I've frequently been impressed with his play. I hope McHale gives him some minutes to see if he's hitting from downtown, and if he is and our perimeter defense is good that game (obviously, it's been up and down all season from damn near everyone playing on the perimeter), why not? He doesn't turn the ball over and certainly isn't the worst of our entry passers into the post. I think Brooks has been a pleasant surprise and is getting closer to how he was playing back when we had our playoff run with Yao and Scola on the team. That's a damn good weapon to have on your bench, in my humble opinion, and he seems to have earned some trust from McHale. I think he'll be getting more minutes than he was early in the season, when Beverley and Lin were relatively healthy. At lot depends on matchups, of course.
I think Lin and AB will have equally same playing minutes when Bev returns. Regardless of how Lin plays, he will part from the Rockets eventually. It seems that Lin will be traded this year if opportunity comes up. If not, they will probably try before the first half of next season. The worse case will be they will wait til end of his contract and Lin goes his own way.
either way, i am anxious to know what will be Lin's next stop on his basketball career. Till then, GO ROX and get us the W!
brooks is fully capable of backing up beverley. then at long last my prediction will come true. haha.
