He missed witnessing the historical collapse by the team he hates. Poor Asik.

The length of his absence makes Omer Asik the biggest quitter in Rockets history. McGrady
and Pippen couldn't even touch this guy in that department.

With the two 1st round picks (as rumored), if true...then yes.

If Rudy Gay can be traded, anyone can be traded. I think this hinges on two things, Morey not wanting to give Assik to a competitor and Morey not wanting to hurt his cap room in 2015. Whatever.

Where the **** is OMER. We REALLLLLLY need him to play and contribute. If dwight gets into foul trouble we are getting destroyed in the interior. Seriously he has been out for SO LONG.

Lin and Beverly were out for extended periods of time and both came back or in Bev's case close to returning. Asik is ???

Seriously every day Morey waits his value plummets, at this point I'd take Thad Young from philly. Dude is shooting 40% from 3.

At this point I'm afraid the bridge has been burned. I only wish to see him in Rox jersey again just so he can up his trade value, which makes it easier to ship his a55 out of town.

Is this the last time we saw baby on the bench?

What are you suggesting? Should we keep him as a mascot?

Well he is one of the only players who can significantly help us on the court. No point trading him for 50% off. He isn't going to sit much post trade deadline that's for sure

Well, judging by the rumors flying around lately and the badly needed help beyond the arc, we're likely going to see some kind of shakeup in the roster before the deadline. Probably something like the Carlos Delfino, Francisco Garcia addition we had last year. If Asik stays past the deadline, which I hope he does, I expect he'll man up and play through the postseason and bring us some defensive presence in the paint.

He quit on the team. Even if the Rockets call his bluff by refusing to trade him and Asik relents and agrees to suit up, do you really trust this guy to go out there and play hard? Morey needs to admit to himself he screwed this one up badly and just cut his losses. The Rockets need help right now on the bench.

Omer is probably a little injured although if he really wanted to he could play. But if he's going to be traded there is no point in playing him through a minor injury. Also no way Asik gives 100% effort.

I agree with the sentiment here that Asik HAS to be traded by the deadline. Asik will probably never give 100% commitment and effort as a backup C to Howard. His stock is only going down from here. If you don't trade him by then that's $15 million for a player who's only going to get 12 minutes/game.

From Morey's interviews he seems like he still wants to go after that "third" star, which clearly is not Parsons to him. The projected Rockets salary for 2014-2015 will be ($71.98 million - $6.5 million) ~ $64 million. Projected luxury tax is $71.6 million. That's not a lot of operating room. Les Alexander never wants to go into luxury tax so I wouldn't get my hopes up on that. Only way to get that third star next season would be a massive trade involving Lin and Asik. I'm sure Morey is looking into this as I type this.

Alright so the 2015-16 season, the Rockets have $39 million in salaries. I think this is the more realistic time for the Rockets to get that big name star. Parsons is probably gonna command $10-12million/year to resign him. Going by the logic that Morey still thinks the Rockets need a third star and Les Alexander will refuse to go deep into the luxury tax: Lin, Asik, and Parsons are all gone.

This means Morey (which I'm sure he is) should be entertaining every single trade offer for any of these players. He should really get as many draft picks as possible, or if possible use these players to get that third star directly.

All three of them were never in the plans in the long term, but the thing is with Asik is that he's deadweight to the team now. Morey should've seen this. It's time to start the process.

I guess one of Dwight's original responses to Omer is appropriate here given his "injury":

Hope he plays soon. it is just hurting the team because we dont have his presence in the game when we need him like when Howard gets in foul trouble or when we play against a bigger line up. iT also hurts any possibilities of a good trade or deal for us. And his value is not as high as last year. this is hurting Asik and the team.

we can't get his defense/ and back up Howard
we can't trade him (we can but for chump trades)
we are just in a loophole and waiting and waiting till his diva decides to play and even when and f he plays with us will he play with effort

come on man, do you really think he is going to wear the rockets jersey anymore? he already played his last game as a rocket, I mean how bad was his injury...? the guy doesn't want to play and frankly I don't even want this guy to be with this team anymore.

The guy is the definition of a quitter

This, any other organization would fine or suspend him, this guy is not hurt he just wants to get traded and if he is still here after the deadline he probably would not play with effort and than we are screwed and get no value at all cause even if we amnesty or do a buy-out he would still get 8 or 9$mill from another team where he will start.

Cant amnesty Asik, and highly doubt we will be able to buy him out at $15 mil dollar next year, unless his camp wants to settle on a very low amount.

I see him every friday at prayers in downtown Houston. From what I could tell a few weeks back, He was hurt, but he is also getting better from what we have read and heard from the media so far. D Morey said on the radio yday morning, that we can expect him back soon since there isnt any more swelling in the knee. Maybe by the end of this month.

He has to be really injured. Nothing else makes sense. I mean if he was just refusing to play then he would be suspended. The only other possibility is he went straight to Morey and said hey you told me straight up you wouldn't trade for another starting center and you lied, **** You I am not playing anymore. And then Morey thought oh **** if I let him do that no one will want him. So Morey talks to him and convinces him to take a break and they'll pretend it's an injury so he doesn't lose trade value. Or maybe he is in McHale's doghouse so bad they can't stay on the same court together. Okay so there are other options but none of them are good.

one thought i had was that if the team just goes along and says he's injured, then player insurance pays his salary while he's sitting out…..saves les some cash
