He should still be on the team, his attributes are rare and only time is needed for him to become a very good NBA payer. You dont give up on 7 foot, left handed, quick players. DD
Let him play. None of the bench guys have played consistently well. Give him his chance. I think McHale is also warming up to the idea of giving him PT. It is Greg Smith who may be soon out of our roster; we're not going to give him a pay raise definitely.
I think it would be worth it. Doug McDermott is the best shooter in the NCAA right now and he's a senior at Creighton, where his dad is the coach. He is also an undersized 6-8 PF who is slow and shares his time between the post and the perimeter. These factors should drop his draft value (he's now at 12 on DraftExpress but likely will not rise that high). If we can't pick him, we can trade a first rounder and cash/role player for him. I would consider it, but straight up, I would probably not. It would not benefit Houston enough since it won't clear much cap room, and once you get outside of the lottery it is a crap shoot. We still don't know what we have in D-Mo, but odds are that his potential value is above that of a late first round pick.
