He's been hurt the last few years ( some sort of hip/groin injury) and it may cause him to retire. Cat is better and more versitle.

Why do people want to trade our 2nd highest scorer when our problem was scoring. And he's our best wing deffender.
He is one of our best assest look at this
    ONLY:
    T Mac
    Kobe
    AI
    Pierce
    R Allen
    Houston(sf)
    Rose(sf)
    Stackhouse
    Ricky Davis
    Jordan(sf)
    Hamilton
scored more from the 2 guard postion this year in the nba
    AND OUT OF THESE ONLY
    T Mac
    Kobe
    Allen(by .005%)
    Houston
    Jordan
    Hamilton
shot a better % and ONLY 6 that scored more shot a better 3p%

Mobley has one of the lowest price tags of all these players yet we complain about overpaying. We want to get rid of our best deal. Look at our foward spots and see if you get the same prodution.
Seems as though some are barking up the wrong tree. We ,rox fans, see Cat so much that we seam to only notice his mistakes and falts, but don't remember his clutch shooting, freethrows, and good hustle D.

Rember he gave up shots as the year progressed so Yao would get more touches. He has changed his role whenever asked, give him credit where its due.

Nicely done, alleyoop. That's not to say that Cat doesn't have his faults or that fans don't have reason to be frustrated with him. But I think that if a trade were to go through, we might begin to appreciate everything that Cat does for the team, offense. I'm not saying a trade would necessarily be a mistake, just that many of us take Mobley's game for granted.

(Of course I'm the guy who suggested hours ago that we offer Mobley for Shane Battier. Hmmmm...) :)

I don't really see why the Sonics would be interested in Mobley. They already have Ray Allen. My hope would be that the Rockets trade Mobley for a "bruiser" at the 4, which would make either Griffin or Taylor expendable.

Remember, there were rumors that the Sonics proposed a Rashard for Griffin trade last season. In addition, the Sonics and Rockets were the two main teams going after Maurice Taylor when he was a free agent. So, it's not like the Sonics have never shown interest in these two. Furthermore, the Sonics have had one of the weakest front courts in the league ever since Shawn Kemp left. They may sacrifice some of their backcourt for size.

Personally, I would prefer we trad Taylor...I wouldn't even think twice about it. Griffin, however, I'm not so sure about.

In another thread, alley oop is looking to get rid of Mobley now he says how good he is. I really think it would be easier to change systems than players. Mobley could be a very good 3rd scorer, but the system right now wouldn't maximize Ming.

    Taylor for Barry wouldn't work.

I do like Mobley and love his value. Like I have mentioned before, we all complain about players that are over paid or not worth thier contracts. Cat is one of the few that is a steal, buy his loyalty. He took less to stay. I would trade Cat though. The point is, just as we say "I don't want him he's piad too much" we have to add value to players that preform well for less $. That means trade him for better value, not just to trade him. Niether Barry is equal to Cat and would be a downgrade to the team if swaped.

I know that I'm getting in this discussion late, but here goes...

I suggested several months ago that when the season ended (as I predicted it would), that we should trade for BOTH the Barry brothers...

Brent brings the whole game and John brings the toughness that Brent "might" be lacking to make up for his (John's) talent drop-off. We need someone tough on the perimeter and on the inside.

And, if we can keep Mobley as a first option off the bench, then I would keep him...

Also, PLEASE GOD TRADE EDDIE GRIFFIN BEFORE YOU TRADE TAYLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eddie has already hit his ceiling!! (Those who differ on the last point, get back to me in five years when he is still averaging 8 pts and 6 boards...)

Eddie is in his 2nd season and only 20 years old and you think Eddie as already reached his full potential?

    Is that a joke?

Not straight up, but it could work with some filler.

would be a nice addition, but i think we need to concern ourselves more w/ someone to take some pressure off of Yao.....more than another gaurd at this point, plus the Sonics wont let him go. who are they gonna use at point if barry's gone, Ollie??? i could see us tradin one opf our big men....but then we'd be even softer down low......we need help for Yao and the Rocks need to pick up a low post banger....*cough * Brand *ahem*

I agree with you on the fact that mobley is cheap and he's a scorer and his defense is intense. You fail to see the actual problem though. Its not about his offense, its about team chemistry. Mobley is an awesome player that works hard but he's on the wrong team. Mobley is a slasher. Don't tell me he's a shooter. I have videos from this season to show you that. I compare this season's Rockets to that of 94'. Only problem is that Yao doesn't have the shooting threat to back him up like Hakeem did. Same situation in San Antonio right now. Thats how the suns lost. Duncan always got doubled in the last 2 games. Manu and Jackson both stepped up. Thats exactly what B. Barry would bring to the table. Plus we got Francis to lead and POSEY TO SLASH.

I would like to clarify something:

I never said that mobley "can't shoot". I'm only saying that he "not a shooter".
