Pantera - I used to really dig these guys, but their constant dumbass remarks and generally unchanging music have caused me to move away.
Creed - When they first started, I was really pleased that there was a new band that played decently hard rock music that was GOOD. Since then, I have been more and more disappointed with their efforts.
Soundgarden - It's not that these guys played bad music, it's just that one damn song, Black Hole Sun, got overplayed SO FREAKING MUCH that I couldn't bring myself to enjoy their music anymore. Maybe the most overplayed song ever.

Can't think of any others at this point.

Good call everything they have made sice far beyond driven has really sucked. I guess a better name for the thread whould be bands you used to like that suck now. Many of the bands listed in this thread I still like but have produced pure crap lately.

Kid A is probably Radiohead's best album.

1. Wheatus - I thought they were going to be the next big thing after that teenage douche bag song
2. DMB - I found out they were commies.
3. Lynyrd Skynyrd - I thought it was a dude until recently.
4. Spandau Ballet - Has same number of letters as skynyrd.
5. Rufus Wainwright's dad - named his kid Rufus.

1. Metallica
2. Stone Temple Pilots
3. Bush
4. Hole
5. Foo Fighters

...and several other mainstream bands I used to like. Now, I rarely like any music that's played on the radio.

Exactly.

Many to choose from and most have already been said, so I will mention these (in no particular order):

1) The Cure - they are still one of my all-time favorites as I have almost every Cure album (except their live stuff and that is like 12 albums), but they never could top "Disintegration". They are supposedly going to release a new album around October of this year.

2) The Smashing Pumpkins - I think some of you are being hard on the Pumpkins. "Adore" is an underrated album but was nowhere near the monsters of "Siamese Dream" and "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness". However, "Machina I" is an album that I cannot say the same for.

3) U2 - all of their '80 stuff brilliant, all of their '90s stuff not so brilliant

4) REM - 1st 2 albums are amazing especially "Murmur", and of course "Automatic for the People" is great but stuff like "Monster" is not.

5) Orbital - who is that you ask? At one time, the best techno band around with albums like the Green Album, Brown Album, and "In-Sides". Now, since then, I can't get into any of their albums. I still have not gotten their latest, "The Altogether".

Also, give a honorable mention to:

Pantera
Metallica (First 4 albums are amazing)
Black Sabbath (never the same without Ozzy)
Sepultura (never the same without Max)
Massive Attack (3D needs Mushroom and Daddy Gee)
Ozzy Osbourne (first 2 albums are the greatest with Randy Rhoades)

Also, I would like to defend Radiohead, Beck, and Coldplay here. Although I didn't like "Amnesiac" much, "Kid A" is fu*king brilliant, IMO. "Sea Change" by Beck is my favorite album by him, and "A Rush of Blood to the Head" is twice the album "Parachutes" is and Parachutes is a damn good album.

Finally, I will also say that I still enjoy listening to these artists mentioned; it is just that I won't really go out and buy any of their current stuff or I think their current stuff (which I will buy like with the Cure) is nowhere near as good as their old stuff.

But what do I know? I have been listening exclusively to jazz, so maybe I have lost touch.:p

The only band that I used to really like but now I can't stand is REM. I absolutely adored this band until the "Monster" CD. To me, their music beginning on this CD until now is too self-absorbed and trite.

Maybe it's because nobody liked them in the first place, but I'm suprised nobody has mentioned Smash Mouth. Their first album (except for "Walking on the Sun") was pure punk...fast paced, gritty, and loud....They have released nothing but watered down pussified crap since then...

Except the damn thing is too big to fit in my CD rack! I didn't really appreciate Kid A until I saw them at the Woodlands.

REM was great until Losing My Religion hit the airwaves. Until then, only the super cool people liked them. :)

I loved Ozzy's 1st 2 albums, or should I say Randy Rhodes albums. That's the only reason I liked Ozzy.

Lynard Skynard IS a dude, he was they're HS principal. See *Behind The Music.

ICP - Big time Busters looking back

Creed - I'll admit it, the first album was really good

Limp Bizquick - The novelty soon wore off

Kid Rock - Devil without a cause and.. and.. and.. nothing.

Bone Thugs - First two albums among my favs, I still play them but their newer stuff I can't get into

Fitty Cent - Ok, I still like his stuff but I saw him on SNL last week and his flow is terrible live. He didn't even have the vocal strength to finish his own ryhmes and sounded sloppy. If he didn't have the G-Unit up there backing him up ie. singing half the damn song for him he would have sounded even ****tier. I'm beggining to think he was a product of Dre and M' beats and lyrics.

Gimme a break.

Hey now, you're an All Star, get your game on, go play
Hey now, you're a Rock Star, get the show on, get paid,
And all that glitters is gold
Only shootin stars break the mold

If that doesn't scream pure, punkrock fury, I don't know what does.

Damn, how could I forget the absolute worst overplayed song in the history of radio? At least most other overplayed songs were cool when they first came out....

If you deside to "sample" some music off vapor trails (before you buy) I would suggest "One Little Victory", "Secret Touch", "Earthshine" and "How It Is". Maybe Surfguy can chime in with his favories.

I still love these guys....BUT, I've been a bit disappointed with what the Beastie Boys have recently release. I don't want to hear the greatest caucasian rappers of all time carrying on about Tibet and politics...give me my "White Castle fries only come in one size" lyrics and be done with it.

Add to the list...
Chemical Brothers - Everything after 'Exit Planet Dust' is just bad mixing of old tunes

REM - no explanation needed

Depeche Mode - opposite of wine...older is NOT better

The Sugarcubes/Bjork - she's just (more) damn weird now.

1. Def Leppard - started going downhill after Hysteria
2. Outkast - loved southernplayalistic and ATLiens, but Stankonia was the beginning of the end
3. Smashing Pumpkins - whatever happened after Mellon Collie?
4. Offspring - their first album absolutely rocked, after that, not so much
5. 311 - no longer a true punk band, they try to do too much other stuff.
