Keep in mind fg% will drop when you start focusing on playing better D

The only mid range plays the Rockets ran was two PNR sets involving Jones and Lin, I really don't know why they don't run more of that, those are money plays.

The more you run it, the more the defense gets used to defending it. I think they want to save it for crucial possessions at the end.

I assume you meant midrange jumpers.

The day they run a PNR at the end of a game instead of Harden ISO is the day I become president, Mchale knows nothing else

I think the guys have lost confidence in their 3pt shooting, hence all the pump fake/drives. Once they start falling again... it's up with the "So we're back to the 3pt only philosophy :( ..." thread

Sorry I misread your post -- I thought you were talking about the 1-2 PNR with Lin and Harden.

If you're wide open on the mid-range can't you just drive to the basket? The 3 pt line and the paint are opposite sides of the court, the opponent can't block the paint while guarding the 3 pt line.

Ha sure. He actually hasn't done that very often this year, but the one time he does it again, it's the shot people will remember most.

Because it is a very, very STUPID mistake. When you know you need a three, you make sure you are shooting a three.

I think this is a bit naive. Again, they have been averaging 26 three point attempts per game. The odds that they've been below average in attempts for 4 consecutive games and it has nothing to do with an offensive scheme change is low.

The three point shot is still the best shot in basketball so it's also misleading to suggest that the 3pt shot is only Plan B for the Rockets. I think the low attempts is a recent trend which is motivated by their struggles shooting from long range.

if your open coming off a screen from 20ft why drive into the defense instead of taking the open shot? The answer to your question is no
