What do they like to do? Kinda depends on that. Oh and how old are they?

Driving up capital of texas dr (360) is pretty beautiful. Tons of million dollar estates sitting on top of rolling hills and water. That is where the Texas Hill Country starts.

Canoeing on Lady Bird Lake is wonderful. South Congress Avenue (by Mary St) is really awesome. There are so many little shops with the most random things in the world. I've found some great stuff. South Congress Cafe is also very good. Home Slice Pizza is the best Pizza in Austin. Just a must see area.

There are over a 100 local places to eat. Austin is full of local eateries. I would say Torchy's but they've expanded outside the city. Groudoughs is a must.

I would also head to 2nd street (willy nelson blvd). It's not super developed yet but it is on its way. Lot of good eats and some cool shops. There is a toy store called Toy Joy that is really awesome.

The greenbelt is AMAZING if they like to hike. You can google it. The thing about Austin is that all of these things are within a 15 mile radius. In the summer, I would say going to swim at the Barton Springs Pool. It doesn't look like a pool but it technically is. It's natural spring water so it's really cold but when you are in 100 degree heat it's perfect.

Don't go to the drag (guadalupe) on campus. Super lame.

Of course, 6th street if they are over 21. Trust me, there is nothing like it. You can go to "dirty 6" which isn't dirty at all. It's just more active and has way more energy. Lots of drinking and people. There is also a Piano Bar there called Pete's. They have recently opened up a location in Houston though. I guarantee the ones in houston have nothing compared to the top guys at the Pete's in Austin. They are good and so funny and vulgar. There is west 6th which is ok. The idea of it is better. Kung Fu Saloon is the only place I like going but they now have a place in Houston.

East 6th is pretty cool. I would say it's more hipster but everyone is so negative about that. The people are cool and the music is great. Not everyone has a handle bar mustache.

Rainy St is really great. More 25-35 year olds. Luster Pearl is good and so is the place across the street. Icenhauer's is also really awesome. You can walk to all of these places except East 6th. There are pedicabs all over if you want to hop on one.

Are you going on a weekend? See The Master Pancake Theatre at the Alamo Ritz Downtown. It is the funniest live show you will see for a while. They mock a movie (Twilight New Moon this week) like MST300.

I would go to Rainy St. It's cool. I would also HIGHLY suggest going to this show:
    https://drafthouse.com/movies/master_pancake_new_moon/austin

You can walk from the Alamo Ritz theater to Rainy St or take a pedicab. It will put you right on Dirty 6. I think it's still a lot of fun and you can check it out if you want. You'll hear live music at some places.

ooooo. The Elephant room. Real Chill. Not immaturity at all. Strong Drinks and Jazz.

Also, HIGHLY suggest Halcyon. They have great coffee, coffee liquor, liquor. They have couches and stuff. A lot of people go there to have their smores. You cook them yourself. There will also be live music at the... Cedar St? Next door. I can't remember the exact name.

All these places are in walking distance from one another.

The weather was a little chilly today. Kinda needed a coat. Also, http://www.weather.com/weather/weekend/Austin+TX+USTX0057:1:US

Go walk down south congress . Go eat at south congress cafe.

Also you want to get BBQ .

I suggest Freedmens BBQ in west campus . You won't have huge lines etc.
    Friendly staff

Sweet plug for Pete's - Thanks! I'm one of the piano players there and would be glad for you to come by and have a drink or two with us. If you think that you might come by e-mail me at johnkingtx@gmail.com and I can get you in for no cover charge and I'll be happy to buy you and your friend a drink.

I've met you a few times. Last time I requested the UT fight song because I knew you guys would make some cash. It's always the aggies and techs who want to win their fight song in Austin seems like.

I suggested to people who were in town for our convention a few months back to check you guys out and they all liked the show and I've tweeted about it a few times.

The Oasis on Lake Travis is a nice place to take folks from out of town. If you haven't been, it's on the edge of a high cliff above the Lake, a series of decks with tables, and a great spot for watching the sunset. Not too far from the dam. They serve food and drinks, and sometimes have live music.

I'm about to hop on the plane to Austin and will be there until next Friday. First on the agenda is trying to score some Franklin's BBQ.

Rack up those frequent flier miles son... I'm not paying. Also, I can fly faster than I can drive (barely) and since I'm traveling for work I'd have to get a rental car for insurance purposes even if I drove - so I'd be going to the airport anyway.

Go eat a burger at Hopdoddy. I prefer the North location because it's not quite as packed, but either is solid. Get there early, otherwise you will be standing in line.

I agree - take them to the Oasis. Its a touristy spot, but still a good place to take out-of-towners. The food is decent.

It may be obvious to some, but many people have still never Walked through the capital - its free and its taller than the Washington Capital building. The Bob Bullock Texas history museum is really cool. Kayak in Zilker park / town lake. See the Bats at the South Congress Street Bridge.

Mount Bonnell should be one of the places on top of the list.
