Best perimeter defender? Totally overrated by His fans here....Hahahah lmao nice rebuttal dude...look how stupid these haters attack?Theyre going to hit you below the belt...relax dude, Talk about Lins inconsistency but honestly Do you think PBev is better than Lin as starting PG?
Here. If you're going to engage in this bash session, at least use real stats instead of just making things up. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4647/gamelog/ Have fun.
And what does Lin's decent defense have to do with Beverly being our best perimeter defender. 0 for 10 what? Shots? Again; that has nothing to do with his defense. Lin is clearly a better offensive player. If Lin was better defensively and offensively, there wouldn't be anything to debate about. His defense. That's the reason he starts.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4795/gamelog/ See Lins stat have some fun too...now tell me whos is better?
Wasn't the reason more that the bench is very weak and that Lin is there to help them? I don't see Bev making the bench guys better in my opinion.
I'm not participating in this pissing contest. Your buddy up there was making up stats, so I'm just helping him out.
Sure. I assume that is the reason; haven't heard anything official. Lin helps lead the bench in terms on offense, and Bev holds together our perimeter D with Harden and the starters.
So our starters should be: Wight Howar James Haren Terence Jones Chanler Parsons DPatrickD DBeverleyD
Is this based on the one Team Plus/Minus stat with limited sample size (the probative value of which was called into question by the plus/minus of the OKC starting line-up)? That statistic? Can we calm the rhetoric down - Bev is a good defender, but Lin's also played good defense the last couple of games. I personally don't have a dog in the race as to whether Lin starts but folks need to stop bending facts to fit this good defense bad offense narrative (and vice versa).
Had fun looking at real stats. Thanks for the link Klutch. Lin should still start for sure. For the record, and I've said this in the past, I think depending on the situation against certain teams Bev should get more playing time than Lin. But Lin should be starting for the most part, he has never done anything to have been relegated to 6th man role. There is a reason though, why Bev couldn't even run the 2nd unit, because his offensive abilities aren't as good. You showing me real stats, just proves my point. Lin's FG% is 47, Bevs was 42%. You can argue sample size since Bev has been out for awhile, but even as 6th man Lin was near 50%. Bev has never reached that level...ever. Lin has been showcasing some decent defense, even though he still has certain lapses he has shown he can shut down elite PGs. Even the best PGs still have field days playing against Beverly.
you are right Klutch, here are the real numbers. Appreciate the link. Lin still should start, he's a real PG running an offense. Bev is a defensive specialist, even though elite PGs still go off on Bev just as much as Lin. So why not have Lin out there who's shown his offensive abilites to add. Here are the games i was referring too, but with the right numbers. Nov 7 - LAL 1 for 10 4 assists Nov 11-TOR 0 for 5 and 0 assists Lin hasn't had a single game with zero assists. Beverly has. People say hes in because of defense, I'm saying Lin is making a good case to stay as starter. If Lin is playing bad, because he does have his bad games that is when Bev should come in and do his thing.
Anybody that still thinks Bev should start is fooling themselves, or they just don't like Lin so much that it is clouding their judgement. Lin has played better D since he came back from his injury than Bev did before he left with and injury. Lin is the superior scorer, he is the superior passer, and most important he is the best player to get the Rockets running. He is better than Bev or anyone else on the team at getting the Rockets running. The Rockets have to be running if they want to be able to compete with the top teams in the league, and the Rockets are at their very best running when Lin is playing with the starters. The Rockets need Bev back but he really does need to come off of the bench. The Rockets are still out of sorts on their running game because Mchale made the mistake of starting Bev and throwing off the chemistry. Little by little as he plays with the starters the chemistry is coming back and it will continue to improve. The bench can be better without Lin, play Casspi at sf and Dmo at the pf, taking Garcia out of the lineup will make the bench better.
