He'll probably duke it out with Marwin to back up Jonathan Villar.

    Who's excited?

I don't care how versatile he is, his OPS has been unacceptable since 09. Just a body for the spring IMO. Gonzalez is better and provides some, albeit very little, potential to turn into something we can really use.

I am glad that a signing like this is not even in the shadows of what we have done this off season.

This creates a fight for the backup middle infield spot.

Gonzo hasn't really set the world on fire himself. Either way they're taking a glove-only backup SS, which they desperately need for the young pitching staff.

Might as well stick with Marwin.

At least Izturis brings something to the table, which is more than can be said for the Ronny Cedeno signing last year.

Looking at the organization it seems they have to sign at least one more SS before ST.

Aside from the 3 mentioned Jiovanni Mier is the only SS who has spent any time above A ball.

Atleast the Astros have outside of 1B until Singleton is called up, promising young guys at every position.

Marwin probably gets the job put atleast he can be pushed.

Cesar Izturis was badass in All Star Baseball 2005.
