Steve Francis Isn't Looking So Good These Days, You Guys

Could just be the gained weight and a desperate need for some chap stick (his lips look terrible), but something definitely looks a little off about him.

 

High-class homeless?

 

Drugs, alcohol, substances and an unhealthy lifestyle without much sleep

Perhaps some mental issues like the ones of Royce White #BeHealthy

 

I love all of these diagnosis made about Francis off of a handful of pictures. Including the ones that he is terminal.

 

Fair enough but do you know how Hakeem looks right now? 20 years younger and better.

 

You can like his game or not, but Steve gave it all he had as a Rocket and deserves our support more than our derision.

steve francis will always be my most beloved rocket. dream took us to the promised land but stevie franchise brings me back to the pinnacle of my rockets obsession, '99-'03. i'll have to dig up the old picture of me at 13 posing proudly with a grinning steve at the steve francis basketball youth camp after his rookie year. sigh....so young, so full of promise...he was supposed to do great, great things with this team. truth be told, I cried hysterically when we traded for t-mac, my <3 for the franchise runs deep. these pictures just destroy me. hoping a couple years from now he'll be back to his former self and looking better than ever.

 

Guess there's no such thing as genetics either. Oh well clutchfans doctors strike again.

 

I agree with rocketsjudoka that a bunch of us who are not doctors (and even those who are) can't really meaningfully make a diagnosis based on these photos. But these photos are striking.

We saw a great deal of Hakeem on TV and in photos this summer with the Dwight events. We also see a lot of NBA players from Steve Francis' era and even before on TV constantly-- Barkley, Kenny Smith, Shaq, Kobe, Jalen Rose, Mark Jackson, Jason Kidd, Hornacek, Brent Barry, Steve Smith, etc. And all these guys look younger and healthier than Francis does in those pics.

This is not to say that Steve Francis is a bad person or anything, but he really has not taken care of himself.

 

Wow, he looks really rough. If he is addicted to drugs, he needs to get off them yesterday or he will look 80 in a year or two and may OD/have heart ailments/attack.

He needs to get more sleep and get sleep hygiene tips from a sleep clinic.

He needs to exercise and eat right and get any medical problems worked out with an MD.

Some of that rough appearance is reversible, some sadly is not.

Steve Francis arrested after incident at LA International Airport

Former Maryland and NBA player Steve Francis was arrested Thursday night at Los Angeles International Airport, officials said.

Francis, who appeared intoxicated and was created a stir at a ticket counter, reportedly was taken into custody about 10 p.m. by airport police for resisting arrest. He posted $10,000 bail early Friday and was released. Francis, 33, was the second pick in the 1999 NBA Draft; he is from Takoma Park, Md.

 

those people on TV have makeup artist paid to make them look good, but it is clear that franchise looks way worse than he should be looking

 

Francis needs to hire a nutritionist, a doctor and a psychologist.

He does not look healthy physically or mentally.

 

He looks really bad, could be Cirrhosis, basically you get scar tissue in your liver and results in loss of liver function. The main causes of Cirrhosis are alcohol use and hepatitis. It does not look like normal aging and weight gain to me, but I'm not a doctor...

 

i saw this picture a few days ago. I really hope its just him enjoying the good life and getting fat. But it doesnt look like that at all. His face looks unnaturally swollen like he got stung by a giant bee.

 

I'm sure if you followed Hakeem around you could probably take a picture of him when he doesn't look good.

Francis certainly doesn't look good and probably has gained weight since he stopped playing professional basketball but I find it overblown to start assessing his overall health just because of a handful of photos. For all we know maybe he had the flu and hadn't been getting a lot of sleep because he was sick that day.
