Rubio is like a lot of euro guards, scrappy defense, not really athletic, creative passing, most things except strangely shooting. Can he help make Houston better? That depends on how much Harden is willing to let him have the ball. If Nash has become barely the player that he once was on a Laker team with "I need the ball in my hand" Bryant then you can bet Rubio to experience the same. Rubio is not really all that effective without the ball.

Lol and I remember when this board was clamoring to dump everything and everyone to get Rubio to sign here.

    My, how times have changed

    And the GM too?

There was one draft day a couple of years ago when Morey summoned Adelman and told him he was going to trade a chunk of his roster for a dazzling European point guard named Ricky Rubio.

"He could help us win a championship someday," Morey told him, "but we might win 20 games next season."

    Adelman was stunned.

"Are you trying to get me fired?" he asked.

Notice how Duncan and Leonard don't take one step towards Rubio to help Parker. This illustrates how a lot of his drives have no passing options, because the defenders don't move.

You need to watch more Wolves games this year. They are not running nearly as much through Rubio as last year. They're running a lot more through Love/Pek.

    .

you mean, Rubio isn't a facilitator any more, sorta like what happened to Lin? And Adelman is trying to turn him into a spot up shooter?

uh, I haven't seen this in the Minny games I've watched. Maybe you're talking about the final minutes of the 4th Q

As compared to last year? I've seen Rubio handle the ball quite a bit less. Stats seem to support this, as his usage% dropped 4 points from last year.

Also, Wolves fans were talking about this too when I recently went to see their boards to check up on Kevin Love status for leaving.

As much as that's Ricky, it's also credit to Adelman's beautiful offense.

people who are clamoring for him to come here- have you been watching him this season? Average at best.

A lot of reasons, the biggest one being Love. As for Adelman's offense, I think it doesn't fit that roster well, outside of Love and Martin.

Anyway, I was replying to this perception that the Wolves offense with Rubio is bad. It's not. If they had a bench, a starting rim protector, and a 3D guy instead of Brewer, they'd be a very good team.

It sounds like a lot, but it's no more than what the Blazers did last summer. Different role players. If possible without losing talent, change the center. Pekovic is great, just not a great fit. I wonder who would say no to a Pekovic for Sanders swap. It would make sense for both teams.

The Wolves are 112 per 100 possessions with Rubio on offense. 103 without him. To put it in perspective, they're #2 in offense in the NBA with him, #22nd without him.

Adelman's beautiful offense apparently requires Rubio to be on the court.

The guy just doesn't look like he is trying out there. He needs to move. I just hope it is not to Houston. We already have our own over rated shmuck at point in Lin.

Lin overrated? No one thinks Lin is good at all except his fans. And Rubio isn't overrated. His stats don't tell the whole story of what he does on the court

    Neither does his team record

So if his stat doesn't tell the whole story, does his team record? Rubio is seriously not that great, he has nice court vision but far from allstar level which he was perceived to be during drafting. People Werner saying he would be the next Nash (during his MVP yrs) nobody ever said Lin would be Nash level. Lin is good but not great. I would definitly not trade Lin and a first round for Rubio. Maybe a one for one trade, but I don't think Rubio is going to help us win more games then our current record. Our current record can only improve with added depth and more chemistry on defense and offense.
I am a Lin fan but if he was traded to another team I will still hope he does well except when playing the rockets.

    Mchale: No fancy pass.
    Harden: I am the facilitator.
    Morey: PGs are expendable.
    Conclusion: Do not want.

Rubio is #10 in the entire NBA in touches per game. He's also #14 in the league in time of possession per game. The Wolves offense very much runs through him.
